What is going on?

Must be. Heck they can't make up their minds. I was planning a romantic evening last week (they promised us rain) and was let down. This weekend they said it was going to rain. So I am going to braai a few steaks on Saturday night.

TV is the last place I would resort for any meaningful information. Winter here in hjghveld seems normal to me: cold and dry but lots of sunshine, occasion cold front. Lots of smoky air.

Are you in Pretoria? The weather I watched on SABC last night showed the heavy rain being over the Eastern Cape today with it spreading over the rest of the country over the weekend. Even then for Pretoria the forecast shows light rain with up to a 50% chance. So that means there is as much chance of it not raining.

Seriously, does anyone watch SABC News to find out anything anymore?

There we go with the prodding again. No doubt if I respond as I'd like someone will start crying about taking a thread off topic and talking crap without for one moment recognising the sad sod who did the prodding...

Cape Town - South Africa - and five provinces in particular - has been warned to expect extreme weather over the weekend.

The South African Weather Service issued a warning to residents of the Western Cape, the Northern Cape, the Eastern Cape, southern Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, reported the Timeslive.co.za.

The warning said a cut-off low pressure system and cold front would move over the country on Friday 13 July, bringing very cold conditions, heavy rainfall, snow and strong winds.

Snow was forecast for mountainous areas in the south-western Western Cape and for the eastern Eastern Cape by Friday night.

Temperatures would drop below freezing in certain parts of the Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape and snow could be expected in areas where it had not snowed in a long time or even at all.

He's a looney farmer who would phone 702 in the wee hours to talk and conspiracies and cloud-seeding, etc…

he used to call SAFM regularly as well.

And sometimes he wasn't such a loonie. He told the truth about Monsanto and GMO long before most people knew about it. Hell, I guess most of you here still don't know/don't care.
