Lost 1kg in my first 2 weeks of base building with a goal of loosing another 3 in the next 5 weeks. Hope the protein I'm taking will preserve the muscle/power.

Argus target weight = 70 kgs eek.gif

Percentage body fat target of 15% (from 22% currently) w00t.gif

you will feel very strong on the climbs if you manage to drop down to 15%! Good luck bro!

What would you pay for a carbon pair of brake calipers weighing only 125g a complete pair including brake shoes. Well ax-lightness has the AX3000 just for you for only €990 or R11200 ex shipping.

Thanks man. Hoping I won't loose to much power and if I do drop the weight I'm looking at an increase of nearly 40% in the power to weight ratio. Can't wait to run off to the hills to test it, but first things first! (Base training is hard work!)

Clavicula cranks, 420g including bottom bracket but excluding chainrings. Could not get a price on them as poshbikes.com was updating their site. Take into account Rotor 3D+ cranks are 476 without BB and chainrings, SRAM Red 557g without BB and Campy SR are 613 including outboard cups.

Here's a story to blow you weight weenies minds...

So – the final bits have arrived for my Reign X. It was just the hubs & pedals I was waiting for. Pedals, because my one shoe disintegrated at the SPD mounting point, and I’ve decided to bite the bullet and go FLATS.

So – they arrived yesterday, and I laced the wheels yesterday afternoon. Had a few “fails” (lacing from wrong side, contra-laced “trailing” spokes and so on) but in the end I have laced both wheels, and they just require tensioning and truing. Which I will be doing this weekend, if I have the time.

Here’s a pic as a teaser…

BTW – I have weighed them, and, including rim tape, they come in at 1,157g & 1,263g for front & rear respectively. And this is after shedding 150g per hub. So – my previous wheelset, including all the bits n pieces, weighed more than 5.5 Kilos!

That was – Minion & High Roller 2.5” 2 ply super tacky wire bead @ 1.22kg apiece, HG50 cassette @ 350g, tjoops @ 200g per wheel (slimed DH tjoops, so they’re heavy) and an extra 150g per hub. Total weight was 5.91kg.

I plan to get that down to 4.46kg with the new build: WTB Weirwolf / Wolverine combo (930g & 660g respectively) HG50 @ 350g, stans @ 50g per wheel.

That’s a WHOPPING 1.45kg drop just by changing tires & hubs. Worth the R 1,400 for new hubs & spooks? I think so. Plus – they look oh so tappet!

I weigh 68kg, and bike weight therefore makes a big difference to me.. Not much left for me to lose ito body fat, but shedding 100grams off your bike (at a cost of R1000 / 100grams) here and there make a HELL of a difference. Wheels first then move onto handlebars / seatpost / stem etc. Groupset can can also save substantial amount, but then the cost per gram saving goes through the roof.

Problem is the old saying: Light / Cheap / Strong ( choose 2 of these per component! )

Hectic, my 26'' race wheelset with stans tape and valve weighs 1210g
