To be really really honest, I still needs to find a pair of shorts that don't re-locate the nads to where my ovaries should be!!!

I just can't get comfy in the friggin things.....Is there a trick I'm missing??

I thought I was the only one!

Doesn't matter what shorts you wear the bum like everything else needs time to adjust.

Dropping the saddle a cm or two in the beginning can improve comfort.

Enjoy the ride!

HI

What in everyone's opinion are the most comfortable cycling shorts ?

my ass is a bit bruised after the tour de krantz on saturday being only my 2nd race i'm not used to my saddle yet.

I bought a pair of padded cycling shorts from mr price sport but they didn't keep me comfortable for too long.

is there a particular brand that I should look out for ?

thanks

mmm ... I do not want to get tooo technical... however it also depends on the saddle you use and the width of your sit bones and the way you sit...

I use a Adamo saddle (i have wide sit bones) and I ride with zoot Tri shorts... no padding whatsoever! just a little bit of layered cloth that assists with negating rub... long rides technical rides... no hassles :)

I have used assos bibsorts too... but on long rides the bloody padding shifts into the center cutout-hole and then the padding makes my stuff numb...

So make sure the padding is narrow or wide enough to keep a gap between your stuff and the saddle...

I used to ride with those HOSS shorts too... eeerrugh! nasty! for me they were getting hooked on everything and the way they rub on your legs when you ride p1ssed me off. also the elastic in the psudo-closet-roadie-shiny-shorts was always too tight... then finding the right elastic size meant I had to fasten the waist velcro straps so tight that the blood stopped going to my legs... i have learnt a few things in my short life: dont buy stuff that does it all... it wont!

This is assuming you know that you have the correct saddle width for your sit bones!

1) take your saddle to the shop or find the same one you have

2) place the shorts on the saddle as if you were sitting (see that the padding is not all over the place-code for *** shorts - you will know)

3) final test is actually buying the one you choose and trying it out :(

although I think that craft clothing is super-value-for-money (the winter windbreaker jacket is better than the assos and at a third of the price)... sadly the paddling did not work with my saddle and my sit bones :(

Good luck

PS... your ass could be bruised because you are riding a hard tail and you are not standing enough over the "bumps"

Don't shop in the Women's specific section...........

On the up side, you never have to worry about sitting on your nuts :w00t:

I made the mistake of getting an Anatomic pair, cant remember which one but it was just under a grand. Did one ride at Breedts Nek with the things and had this constant worry that if I coughed Id spit them out. They creeped so high up my arse I could taste my shammy cream.

so wore them once and detest the sight of them, im gonna cut the padding out so I can wash my car with it.

I then got me 2 of the Craft bibs and havent looked back, so comfortable and dont have that feeling of padding in my throat with the taste of shammy cream. Nothing worse than the feeling of a bib violating your poop chute on a lovely ride.

Anatomic for me is krap

Craft is a winner

Assos all the way. Mainly wear them when heading out for 2 hours plus. Bought my 1st pair a year ago, I now have 5 pairs...

oh - forgot to mention, I have started using the first ascent compression pants - range from about r500 to r600 depending on where you buy - been very happy with them.
