Amazing route, die nuwe roete is nog beter as die oue! Ek het vergeet hoe styl daai deadman walking is.. eina!.. that hurt!

Thanks Bos we have just got positive feed back from everyone who rode the race. I think alot of people will be kicking themselves for not making the trip out to Ceres as the weather was near perfect for the race. As for deadman walking I guess you have to earn that 8 km baboons highway downhill but you would agree it was worth it.biggrin.png

I chickened out on the long route in the end but still had a blast on the 35km. I can't remember when last I smiled for every km along the way - must be at least 80% single track. They even cleared the verges of the single tracks with weed eaters!! Absolutely bloody brilliant - thank you to all who were involved!! clap.gif clap.gif Real pitty the turnout was smallish - this should be the permier event on the Western Cape MTB calender!!

My wife did the 65km and said it very tough but well worth it for the view and descent. We will be back soon - I've got to try out that new section. Weather was PERFECT!! You guys who cycle there regularly are blessed with some of the best trails in the Western Cape. Must be a killer once the heat turns up?? Also briefly met the landowner (I think he is?) and trail builder (Deon?). A special thanks to him.

He is Deon Malherbe and the whole 65 km is all on his farm now that is blessed. My name is also Deon I help with the maintenance of the the route (with the help of 4 other farmers on the road) and built the new downhill after the pipeline.

Good to hear some great feedback. Deon Malherbe is even looking at making some new great single track for next year.

Congrats to Dominic Calitz who won, on the downhills Deon Malherbe said he was struggling to keep up with him on the motor bike (and Deon can ride a motor bike).

Is there a mailing list we can get onto for this or a facebook page as I have missed out on this the past two years by not realising when it was.

No there is no mailing list or facebook page, although I have been advertising this race from the 3 Oct also there were ads put up in bike shops and the Argus and Burger, also Eselfontein does have its own web site. We are having a meeting on Tuesday I will speak to the guys about a facebook page I think that is a good Idea.

Conrad has marked the whole route so you shouldn't have any problems. You can ride the route anytime it is not just for the race.

Thanx for the best race of the year! This with the Gravel travel must be up there with the best in the country!

(Het 'n glasie water of Coke gemis by die eindpunt, gelukkig was dit nie 'n warm dag nie!)

Spoke to the guy setting it up and he said he will try and do it tonight. I think it will be on the Eselfontein website.

This race is the best. Made the trip on saturday only due to the rain. This was my third festival ride, did a few other ones there as well. Anyway, arrived on saturday morning and realised I forgot my helmet, eish. Just a word of thanks to Deon for borrowing me his helmet. Thanks!

Really enjoyed the track as always. It really is an awesome place. One should make the trip more often.

Thanks again
