I always enjoyed watching him race, his awesome bike position, the way he use to fly up the climbs...he achieved what most of us only dream off. Burry was going in direction that the camera is facing which is down a bit of a hill, and the taxi was coming from the front, much like the red car in the photo. If I look at the gradient of the hill that Burry was coming down, I'm guessing he easily could have reached over 50km/h. If the taxi turned into Stott street at the last moment and Burry hit the brakes as hard as he could, he still would have hit it over 40km/h. That's still a major impact. word Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 RIP Burry. Thoughts and prayers are with Cherise and the family. I never met Burry but did see him at the Nissan Trailseeker in September last year. He won and stayed around for ages afterwards meeting the rest of the competitors and having photos taken with anybody who asked. A real superstar. Tragic loss for SA and World Cycling.
