it might weigh one to two kgs lighter,

Ja, like that isn't really anything on a 11kg bike.

as a hobby i have been buying and selling roadbikes for many years.ive had the opportunity to ride nearly all makes of road bikes.full.carbon frames is just a image thing.good for the pros to get that one or two second lead.it might weigh one to two kgs lighter, depending on the size of frame.but to the man in the street it wont better your time.or you wont notice.il do a 20km route with a allu bike.get on to a full carbon bike.my time is the same.also buying a used carbon bike is very risky.you might have internal cracks you wont see.one small fall can cause cracks.end of the day stick to high quality allu bikes.they look just as good.if you want carbon, buy new from dealer with a warrenty.secondly.group sets.they are all good.shimano sora verses dura ace, does the same job. also a image thing.they are all nearly the same quality.same durability.the one might change a split second quicker than another.for the pros yes.the guy doing the argus etc.makes no difference.dura ace is double the price.but does the same job.if you had to blind fold someone, and let them test different components.it would be guess work.

And your point is?

Well I guess if you stick to a 20km route it doesn't really matter what you ride...

He's talking about road bikes so 1 to 2 kg's on an 8kg bike! No difference at all - especially to us who train on 20km rides.

Really - where did that post come from? Are you providing the definitive answer to the question that has plagued the hub for years?

I disagree here...I was able to notice a huge difference coming from a Alu bike to an full carbon bike....I had a Scott Speedster S4 and upgraded to the Fondriest TF3...and eventually to the TF2

It made me faster, I noticed a increase of about 2km/h in my average over a 50km route....also the weight saving helped a lot on the climbs...I noticed racing with Tubbies also makes it an easier ride when racing as your rolling resitance just feels better....

But anyway, this is my opinion....but if you not a fit racing snake you wont really notce a different.
