Pepper spray - anyone used it?

Lets just say Purim in Jerusalem can get a little surreal and leave it at that. Just remember that if you pepper spray your girlfriend she will be very very annoyed and you better hope she is wearing waterproof mascara.

We've been talking about carrying pepper spray ever since some loon in the Cradle wanted to f&$! us up for daring to ride on his road. Two of us riding either side of the yellow lane (hardly 30cm either side). He shoots past and hoots, we raise our hand to apologise, he gives us the finger, we give him the finger and he slams on breaks and jumps out his suped up Ford Fiesta waving his arms and hurling abuse at us before thankfully coming to his senses. I'm not saying I condone the use of pepper spray but there's some nutter's out there and besides fighting back with a plastic juice bottle, sometimes just the threat of pepper spray will make people think twice before crossing the 'stupid' line

We don't do the fog one like they "tested" but we do the jet spray ones.

I tested it the other night on two guys in bakkie that cut me off and just being idiots, just stuck my hand out the window and gave a squirt they slowed down and disappeared quick enough. Trust me it works.

In my Air Force days of doing 2 years service, I used to sell all sorts of things on flea markets to make some bucks, including pepper spray canisters.

 

Someone always asked if it worked, so I developed a technique to demonstrate. I sprayed some in a packet and offered whoever, a quick smell. As they put their nose in I used to squeeze the bag to make sure they got a bit more than they anticipated. Worked a charm, and sold lots of gas canisters.

 

Also had some guys gas me by mistake on said market stall, and was gassed by the SAPS a number of times as a student. It will stop you in your tracks.

 

The police did have a stronger chemical they used, and I got something called CS from a French supplier which I never tested but was assured it was closer to nerve gas and was ilegal. I sold it all to some guy in Kdorp who was very excited. There seems to be different strengths.

This is when you step it up a notch and press charges. I for one am tired of being harassed/threatened when all I did was play it safe.

I reckon they should invent,if not already, a pepper spray that stains the skin / clothes - this way you can find these #ck3rs again and or they can be easily identified - whether they were right fully tagged is another story.

I carry a can in my bakkie. Never know when some mad cyclist is going to get in your face. I will just nail him with the spray. Like to see the skinny poofter cycle after that. I might use it next time I see 2 roadies riding abreast.

 

On a more serious note I got sprayed in Jerusalem of all places. In a pub. On a table. Long story. At first I thought someone had put a cigarette in my eye. Hurt like hell and my mascara ran all over my face and into my beard. Made me look very weird, sort of like a melting raccoon. Well that's what my girlfriend said. Like I said, a long story

From first hand experience (har har), it doesn't effect the airways at all. Just swells the face up.

Any of those "Security Shops" you find in the Malls

The product I use has a Purple Dye added to it for easier identification later. (Under UV light)
