This will not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is definitely an interesting way of manufacturing a long travel bike frame.

Ribisu, mountain bikes with the frames CNC machined from solid aluminium. Apparently a block with a weight of approximately 100kg of aluminium is used to manufacture the frame. They will obviously recycle the waste material in order to make the process worthwhile.

Looks nice, but recycling aluminium is pretty energy intensive

Yeah, except probably a lot less barge-like. :)

Just kidding - those VT's were great for the time. I just like the ruggedness of that design though. Bracing. Like riding a beatifully engineered I-Beam.

I know, I'm strange.

Haha! Ja those VT's weren't fantastic compared to current designs. Like riding a pogo stick! But hey, it looked cool.

I like that frame, but must be moerse expensive in material, let alone machining ... but then again I could be very wrong...but ja, smaak it stukkend!

extremely energy inefficient, and even more so from a manufacturing perspective. Nice idea, beautiful product, but oi. They might be better off 3D printing that sucker, if they can achieve the same strength and compliance from a printed product.

I agree 100%.

I think I have posted this before but Empire bicycles have manufactured a 3D-printed titanium bike frame last year which is full strength and rideable:

This is the normal Aluminium model:

OK, so this is my kind of bike, 160mm travel, Cavalarie Anakin, 13.75kg complete with dropper and you won't have to lube or clean a chain for thousands of km's:

All told, Effigear claims that their system adds 100g over a comparable derailleur setup. An Anakin 160mm Enduro frame, Squirrel 185mm freeride frame, and Falcon 200mm downhill frame (shown) are all available directly from Cavalerie. Pricing for the frame, drivetrain, and rear hub begins at €3,900 (£3,190).
