That FD will however not survive a winter.

 

Funnily enough my GT Sanction had the FD in a similar if not worse place and it survived many winters.

front mech and 2x parts will be the 1st to go and converted to a simple 1x setup instead;)

What is that black box thing on the non drive side of the down tube?

is an optional unit 

 

That is the e:i Shock Auto Battery Unit which has been updated

The e:i Shock Auto system is made up of several components :

  •  1 computer placed on the side of the stem, with a control button and an LED light to indicate the mode chosen and the position of the shock.

  •  1 Rock Shox Monarch RT3 Relay shock with motor.

  •  3 captors : 1 accelerometer on the stem, 1 accelerometer on the fork and 1 captor for pedaling cadence on the bottom bracket.

  •  1 cyclindrical battery (25h autonomy)
