Bikes for Enduro... The restart

'looks' flexy actually, were they removed one bit of rear triangle to make space (i presume) to install the shock and access the adjusters.

 

 

That AND how many bikes do we actually know of that has both the rear shock mountings 'behind' the BB line... 

I cant really see the bottom linkage between front and rear triangle design from the pics so can't determine the range of movement really... It seem like that shock is mounted linkage to linkage... Which is also odd actually... 

 

One might just get a 'I'm being kicked in my butt' feeling

scott genius with its pull-shock comes to mind. Not aesthetically pleasing.

But i dont think it matters where the shock is located. It's essentially a mirror image of the arrangements with shocks that are aligned with the seat tube, but in front of the BB. Giant, Transition etc. The rocker arm is of course modified to suit the shock being at the back.

Wondering if they haven't sacrificed the shorter chainstay option for 'being different'.

.yeah, it's about the linkages.

 

Not clean by any means, but if you consider that the Santa cruz rear triangles also only have one forward spar...

true,but the shock linkage where the seat stays link to is one solid piece effectively joining the seat stays at the pivot point. With the propain, there's no such arrangement (gap between pivot points), making it possible for the shock linkage to twist, hence it 'looking' flexy.

yeah, sure it wont reach the frame at full travel... just looks sketchy...

 

Ja....  Mine (and after much research seeing many other withs the same problem) at max psi they bottom out pretty easily.. until you add the volume reducers... Might just be my 90kg self, but took a lot of fiddling to get it right for me.

Im having the same problem...i almost feel too heavy for the shock and im at 280psi...shock feels smooth but my fox never bottomed out like this

Ah, yes. I see what you're saying. But on the pain there's also a bridge forward of the tyre, which the mudguard fits on to. Just how much that braces the triangle , and how fleet those "spars" are at the pivot point, remains to be seen. But yes. Now that I see that, it does look a bit flexy.

 

I'm sure they thought of that though

Yeah. With volume reducers (read electrical tape) installed, I am running at 310psi, weigh 90kg and have yet to bottom out and in fact use more than 85% travel. Very happy with this.

Looks like it might be running some sort of pull linkage, like the Evil does - single pivot moving rearward, pulling on a triangular rocker jobbie which rotates and compresses the shock attached to the 3rd corner of the link. Would be cool to see inside the confines of the frame to see if I'm right.
