Uhm, not really sure. Its probably more the amount - it must have been too much if I am still feeling a bit sick.

You should see the amounts of pork I eat. I buy the things at the butchery - it looks like a mix between biltong and bacon strips or something, but man, they are probably around 90% fat. Chow those babies down, and my keto strips have never been this purple. It's probably even a deeper purple than the most extreme colour on the box :whistling: .

Is it be possible to eat too much saturated fat?

I also find it hard with pork fat unless it's very thinly cut. Kinda like pork rashers. Have also felt like that with pork chops before. I don't have the same feeling with lamb/beef fat :D

Did a good carb free ride today..110km on the Mtb,no fat shake ,no breakfast,no carbs or food or water on bike.

Basically got up,had a black coffee and left....

Still carry a bottle with carbs for emergencies on the bike for long rides but I am starting to feel like I can leave the carbs for anything up to 5 hours.

Doing my first Trans Baviaans this year so I am thinking about doing it carb free...will see how the training goes.

It's really, really good to hear stories like this. Mirroring my own journey of discovery (and many others too).

I reckon it's a good time to have another look at the saturated animal fat myth ("clogs your arteries, causes heart disease, etc").

Noakes on saturated fat:

"As I wrote in Challenging Beliefs, a 2010 meta-analysis of studies involving 347 747 subjects, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found 'no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease or cardiovascular disease'.

"A 2011 report from the Cochrane Collaboration, an organisation that is independent of the pharmaceutical industry, found that 'there was no clear evidence for dietary fat changes on total mortality or cardiovascular mortality'. Thus the scientific evidence is clear: a low-fat diet has no proven role in the prevention of (coronary) heart disease. It is time that cardiologists began to teach this fact in our medical schools."

But even better is this excellent write-up from Mark Sisson (Marks Daily Apple) on saturated fats. It's really important reading, so if you haven't read it yet, pour yourself a drink and settle down to one of the best summaries you're likely to find on this issue.

As Noakes says, expect this vilifying of saturated fats to one day become recognised as "one of the greatest errors in the history of medicine".

And on the other side tombeej I recently read a report and now cannot find it from I think an American institute. I will keep looking but meanwhile what they said is

HFCS is highly addictive.

HFCS stimulates appetite.

HFCS can lead to fatty liver disease and ultimately sorosis of the liver

HFCS is the fastest route to a general carb resistance and diabetes type 2

First time I have read a government affiliated health report making those claims. Some progress being made.

On a related issue I saw a new type of Pepsi on the market called throwback. Made with cane sugar. No HFCS.

You might have read the work of Dr. Robert Lustig ("The Real Truth About Sugar"). He's been carrying the banner about HFCS, and props to him for continuing his mission in what seems to be a pretty concerted attack from various quarters to discredit him. He's ruffled some very powerful, very wealthy feathers.

I guess that's something Tim Noakes can readily identify with after he stuck his head above the parapets last year with his backing of LCHF.

The way Dr. Lustig describes it, HFCS sounds like some very hectic stuff... another case of well-meaning intentions gone wrong (kinda like the guy who invented CFCs thinking he'd just made a great contribution to the world).
