dont wait for lifetime bans, teams must simply not employ these guys after their suspension ends......easy. Teams take these guys back, knowing their history and are quite happy when the results poor in and turn a blind eye.

Winning in cycling is determined by who can get away with it, deep down we know all of them are on something.

Even in most riding clubs u find guys trying to get the edge.,..it's just sad.

Check out the politics:

Team manager Angelo Citracca makes clear that the rider was imposed on them. “Danilo Di Luca is an athlete who was not part of our group, not wanted by the team and he was included by our Main Sponsor Valentino Sciotti. Due to friendship and geographical proximity to the cyclist, he insisted and created the conditions for the inclusion of Di Luca in the team.

Short bans for dopers are not that effective imo. Perhaps Di Luca tried going clean, got 0 results, then reached for the needles again. I think this is the case with Ricco too, and more riders in the peleton. So they are faced with a situation of no dope, no results, no job. Rater take them out of the sport completely.

@GeraintThomas86: Di Luca what a complete ********!!! From this day forth, Life time bans for EPO and blood dopers!! Get them out and keep them out!!

Will be funny when these pro cyclists who tweet from a moral high ground gets caught. Lets face it, the chances are better than not for them still doping

I find the response from the team manager very unprofessional at this stage. Wait for the official result to come out and then start doing your washing in public. Up until that point your team's rep is your nr 1 priority and you act as such

There's some shitty politics in the team environment hence the outburst.

Another blow to the beautiful sport.

From a professional point of view I agree with you.....but......from a personal point of view I like that the manager reacted as he did. He was the moer in with an idiot that endangered his whole team as well as his sponsorship and all their futures. I can totally associate with his outburst and think it a real hot blooded Latin way of reacting. (Myself, having some French genes, can feel his anger.)

IMHO with di luca's past it was the perfect reaction to preserve the teams future, anything less and he would look like he might be siding with di luca or wanting to give him a chance.

Hmm, perhaps that "Main" sponsor may just decide to just withdraw his funding after an unprofessional outburst like that against them,......... frankly I would.

I agree with Jaco, there are ways of expressing yourself without been personal or demeaning, seems Mr Citracca may need to take a course in PR management or there may very well be no team, which would be unfortunate, as I think its a great little outfit with some very promising riders.

Messy, messy.

Cippolini, who is an integral part of the team environment, will not sleep well these days.

What is his exact role there?

Two times he's had a warning and two times his sorry ass has been in front of the judges and yet he still hasn't learned the rules apply to him.

That tells us not only is he arrogant but he is incredibly stupid as well. He must have known when he got the surprise test that he was in trouble and yet he still turned up at the Giro d'Italia all smiles and ambitions. Just what was he thinking when he rode past the Pantani memorial on the Galibier? He obviously has no respect for himself, his fellow competitors and his peers because he had the cheek to try to win on that occasion, and yet there he was following the same slippery slope to tragedy.
