Just out of curiosity: Can one fit a 135mm shock on a normal SC Tallboy?

If talking rear shock then yes you can fit any shock that will go in there but the links in the suspension will limit the travel to whatever it is designed for ( I think 100 mm on the standard TB ). It is not only the shock that limits the travel.

The Long Travel version of TB has different links and different shock mounting location halfway down the down tube instead of the top tube like normal TB. 135mm rear travel.

If talking Fork then yes you can fit a longer fork but it may not work well and might overstress the frame. According to SC, the TB is designed for forks up to 120mm. TB LT is designed for forks from 120mm to 150mm and the factory builds all have 140mm fork.

Yip, the rear shock. Makes sense, I suppose the 135mm wont come to its full then anyway. Thanks. My mate bought my TB, he is heavier than me and would like to use it as an enduro style bike. We've shortened the stem, wider bars and fatter tires. It actually rides brilliantly with this set-up, just in need of a bit more travel!

Maybe look at changing the shock with volume spacers to increase its progression.

Or sell the frame and get a TBLT frame. You can buy these in alu or carbon.

Since the TBLT frame is a different design I don't think you can use TBLT parts to upgrade travel on a TB frame....maybe investigate a bit more.

Beware the danger of rear wheel or triangle contacting the frame if you fit modified links...

I agree! The geometry of the two bikes are very different. He will have to find a TBLT in due course.

To the folk that know everything....or just this one thing...

According to what I can see they are only selling the RS reverbs stealths 150mm drop in 34.9mm and 31.6mm seatpost sizes? Is this true, or are all the places I am looking just not stocking the smaller options?

No, should be available in 30.9 as well. If anything 34.9 should be the odd one out.
