So who is feeling a little lost with a rest day in Provence and no Ashes to watch... hell, i'm going to have to do some work now.

That said, I'm already getting pumped for the double tap of d'Huez!

Yeah, i'm feeling a wheeze coming on and by Thursday it will be full on man flu requiring that I stay at home and keep my feet up in front of the TV...

Ok mind thinks like that but the conscience wont allow it....but i'm seriously tempted take a half day's leave.

My son leaves the Swiss Alps(where they have been riding since Friday) today for France with his bike and will be on d'Huez for his birthday on the 18th

What is your take on the fans that run alongside? As a TV spectator I get totally pi$$ed of. Do you think that the riders are zoned out, or that they love the attention, or do they wish that everyone would just forkoff?

My wife commented if she's them/rider she'd get very p$ssed off at them, if it was me I'd get serious nervous. You just need one of them to fall over his own feet, into rider and stuff up hours worth of work.

There has been lots of talk about individual performances, but has anyone had a chance to analyse the Team performances?

Team Sky have got a lot of flak for not being up to it, but as far as I can see they have performed in the stages that mattered (TTT, both big mountain stages). They may have missed a trick when Saxo broke away, but there was not really any damage.

As far as I can see the team has "rested" for the big stages and this is particular evident watching how Porte has been used.

My feeling is that they have outwitted the competition....

I can do with a breather, must say.

All that excitement took a lot out of me.

I love the crowds, they make so much of the tour and if you've been lucky enough to stand on one of the classic climbs when it's going off then the atmosphere is electric.

For the hero Col's spectators have often been there camping for a few days to make sure they have a great spot so when you race comes through you're pumped. Truthfully though I have no time for for the runners, the 'in your face' shouters and the tv wannabes. That's all about them and if I were rider I'd be pretty over it. It's now part of the whole event but guys are doing it just to get on TV and show it to their mates so what's the point?

Ja, I'd kill to be on the slopes somewhere cheering, but did you see that one dØØs yesterday with that can of red powder? When the okes a battling to breath as it is. Pity the roads are so narrow that they can't put up railings.

They irritate the crap out of me, why the flip can they not stay on the side and wave / jump / flash or whatever like the majority of the other fans?

It must be really frustrating if your riding at your max effort / suffering ect...and then have the extra concern of what one of those idiots might do by accident while he runs and screams who knows what in your ear.

Would love to know what thoughts go through the riders heads.....

Think it adds a lot of additional stress to each rider and more focus which could and should be used on other aspects of the race. I get nervous just watching.
