'Dale Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 I was pondering the similarities between Ventoux for the roadies and our very own Sani pass for the mtb guys. If you compare them, Ventoux has around 1500m climbing over 20.5kms and Sani pass has around 1300m of climbing over 21kms. But then compare the lovely smooth tarmac of Ventoux to the rutted, boulder strewn gravel road with river crossings, mud etc thrown in. what do you guys think? The faster you go on any surface, the tougher it gets. What's your point?
Bub Marley Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I think most people are kinda just hoping Contador would surprise us so that we're in for a thrilling final week. The reality is that Froome has now dropped him on 2 climbs and that'll knock his confidence big time. I think there's only one winner of this Tour de France and a deserved one as well barring any major catastrophe. I think if anyone is going to give Froome a run for his money, it's Quintana but he lacks experience big time. I do hope he wins a stage though as he's been fantastic to watch. Contador however, is definitely not as strong as he was a couple of years back.
jimmycool Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 The faster you go on any surface, the tougher it gets. What's your point? I guess my point is I've ridden up Sani pass and I know how difficult it is and how long it took. To see these guys blast up those mountains at that speed is just mind boggling. I was trying to compare that climb to something similar that I have tried.
T-Bob Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) So good to see that nearly every track athlete medal winner from London 2012 has been found guilty of doping. Couldn't tell.. laden with sarcasm? How funny tho, Victoria Baranova was the only one slotted for being on the testosterone. A Russian lady athlete busted for that, it's like a bad Rocky storyline. Come on lady, the doping world has moved on, it's all synthetic now. Edited July 16, 2013 by hellocolour Wez-O 1

Gotcha, jimmy'.Just add 200 plus of tarmac to it, alongside it being the 13th or something stage. Yoh!

'Dale Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Are these guys human? I guess that's what professional means. Just dunno how 41 year old Jens does it and HD even feature - breakaways, etc.

Guess it coulda been worse though, a woman from a former East Germany territory perhaps?
