Well don't wait until then. Prestige Ultra, Midmar, Buffelspoort and Trirock all 70.3 races coming up within the next 6 months.........

Cool, thanks Garfield, have already registered for the Midlands Ultra - must check out those other ones.

This sport appears to be somewhat addictive. :D

Who loves their finisher shirts?

I seriously don't understand how Merrell as a performance technical apparel brand would put their name on a shirt sourced from the same supplier that Julius and Zuma get their supporter shirts.

I wear my 5150 shirts all the time, they are great. After promises of better shirts in the race live chat session by Paul Woolf, they come up with these. Suitable for car washing. By that I mean polishing the body work, not wearing while washing the car.

All I can say is that the shirt and the bag go hand in hand. The shirt is ok for a pyjama top and the bag is already falling apart. For the entry fee some decent quality is really a must, it wouldn't cost them a whole lot more and they would have far happier athletes.

On a related matter how cool were the slops from transact afterwards, great idea

Both my and my mates Garmin read 2,1Km in the swim....anyone pick that up....or do we just swim skew?

Refs were much better this year.

I did exactly the same time as last year apart from a couple of seconds

How as that wind back, turned and thought here comes a PB, quite a surprise.

Haha, I know that I was swimming all over the place, I probably swam 3KM.

The wind back was horrible, it felt like it was against us on the way out and then changed direction on the way back. :(

I generally swim pretty straight and I also got 2.1km!

I had a great outing apart from one little incident.left cape town on the thursday just after 4 am.decided to take the port alfred route.lekker road trip with pink floyd at top volume.stopped at port alfred and had a lekker pizza at guidos.was too big so decided to have the left over half as a take away.arrived in slummies registered and had a quick look through expo and after some asking around found my guesthouse in the nahoon beach area.friday morning myself and a friend went for a swim and while drifting at the back buoy the fog came over and we did not know where the beach was.floated on our backs and had a lekker chat while waiting for the sun to come through.i was burping the whole time and when exiting the water and sitting on the walkway started vommiting.hello guido pizza.went home drank electrolytes and slept from 11 to 5pm.went out the evening and had a lekker steak and potato and ended up at buccaneers for a beer or 2 with some mates.stomach settled.race day and i was in wave 6.drank in the whole atmosphere.i am not a good swimmer so i let everyone go and walked into the water stone last.washed my goggles and was in a rhyth from the first stroke.never touched anyone.i had my first stroke in the swim 2 min 27 seconds after we set off.i pressed interval on the garmin when i went into T 1 after walking shuffling up the hill and saw my time was 37 min.cool not even out of breath.paced myself well on the bike going out shouting encouragement to my teammates who wre catching me from behind(girl waves)ave speed at turn point was 20km/h.decided to push back and the realized a wind has now come up into the face and it is not all downhill from the turn.in any case ended up ave 25km/h for the total course.i am not on a tt just a normal 8 year old giant tcr with clip onns.started the run and felt my quads(which i do not have much off).decided to take the run slow and back off everytime i felt like a cramp might be coming.i had lekker chats with all on the course that looked like the mite have a chat.with 2 km to go i thought well i still have like 90 min to finish so lets see how many people i could catch and if i cramp so what i will just walk the red carpet.ended up running second last km in 3:22 and the last km in 2:48.stormed through the finish line.in retrospect i should have run much harder, but hey it was my first and enjoyed every minute of the whole journey to get there.2 yaers ago i was on crutches lying in a hospital with 2 broken legs and an ankle 7months of hobbling along. a year ago i was walking 20 min a day 3 times a week with no swimming or biking.i caught myself time and time again having this stupid grin on my face.celebrated till the early morning at buccaneers.the finishers t shirt was a big disappointment though but hey i have a cool medal on my desk today.btw this was my 2nd 21 km run in 17 years.roadtripped it back and slept over in pe and back at the office today with no pain or niggles at all.

13 minute T1 for me. :D

Chatting, sun cream (I'm like a vampire that suffers from albinism), taking my time...

What an incredible experience. I'm still on a high. Can't wait for next year.

Recall you were worried about the cycle? how did it go?

Who achieved there times? I got a PB but wasn't what I was chasing. Had plenty of demons out there on race day and was probably the toughest one I have ever done, yet its the one I trained the hardest for.

hey Reteid - sounds like you had the most fun on the day and for most people that's what it should all be about. Well done on your first one and continue to have fun.
