I need to figure out how the get the work stand/ clamp out of the pic... that would make a really awesome image - just the bike 'floating' against the wall.

once agian need to speak to my neighbour rouxtjie but we can organize a ride and you try both out sometime if you want to before you buy.

That would be cool!

@doppeldanger Not as bad as I expected, my DS is very soft especially over rocks etc but with the rigid and bigger wheels are a bit of a harder ride but not nearly as bad as I expected it to be. I've added 2.4 tyres and 700mm carbon bars to ease the ride which made a huge difference. The bike is also much lighter and climbs like a "bergbok" :)

Awesome thanx, can't wait to take mine out for her first ride..I need wider bars though...but all in good time :w00t:

Thought so...Have been riding a 26 HT geared 100mm travel for about 4 years now and have been thinking of getting a 29er(especially for the type of offroad riding available here in Bloem) and converting the 26er to SS. Thought the Silverback rigid SS in the classifieds was a good deal and a good starting point though.

Doing my 4th Trans this year and was toying with the idea of tackling it on the 29er...

But I get what you are saying about the 'personal' experience.

That Silverback is not a bad deal, personally I don't like Silverback but if you buy a bike then I don't see a problem, you will probably end up changing it soon anyway

Just so you know NO-ONE likes a showoff :whistling:

So I shouldn't mention that there is also a Niner Sir with Biocentric II EBB in Kermit Green yelling BUILD ME BUILD ME from the bike room????

An old Giant XTC 29er 1 is also gonna get "the SS treatment" soon.

I need a "Please send bread and water - spent all my money on bicycles" bumper sticker for my car.

I can vouch for the Pro Carbon fork and the X-Lite. I prefer the Pro - it has a leetle compliance - the X-Lite is woes!

Also have a Niner Carbon and Niner Steel fork waiting to be built and tested - watch this space.

Tyres? Conti X-King 2.4 gets my vote!

I will maybe try the X-Kings, my buddy John also likes them...

So you reckon the X-Lite is woes? no give?

I don't mind Silverback, the specific frame is quite light.

Just a pity all the 'action' and people in the know does NOT live in Bloem. The simplicity of a SS rigid appeals to me a lot.

Well then you going to love the fact that you do buggerall to it...maybe a bit of lube every now and again. Wash every 5th ride just because you feel sorry for the poor donkey, not because it needs it....and here is the really nice part...its quiet....dead quiet....no chain slap and shifting noises
