I love the sound of my Hopes.

There is nothing more awesome sounding that 4 or 5 of us (with Hopes) all freewheeling down a trail.

A swarm of hope hubs

I have tried Belray and Mototrex grease - they are about a 2 on the scale of grease viscosity.... so pretty light grease, and the hopetech recommended viscosity - I think heavier grease might make the chainsuck issue worse (although it may well be quieter) - you could try cheap CV joint grease - Midas has it - dirty black s..t - use surgical gloves instead of trying to clean it off your hands...

In use, when freewheeling - the pawls 'knock' the grease out of the ratchet splines to some extent, and then it gets noisy again over time.

Still does not get as silent as I would like - not even close to my DTswiss hubs near silent operation.

Mmm sounds interesting, are DTswiss hubs almost as bullet proof as Hopes?

And are they really that silent, like the cheap Shimano freehubs are virtually noise free?

Beware the racket a DTswiss hub can make! Get your partner a DTswiss 350 rear hub it will overwhelm your Hope hub noise by a mile.

Why give your partner a better freehub???

Grease it up, I've also got hope hubs, it reduces the sound but doesn't completely make it go away. Repeat process and actually it does get quieter as the hubs are ridden more. This advice was given to me by another riding mate with hope hubs.

Grease does work but only for about 2 weeks then the noise comes back :(

I would love a Freewheel Body that is silent.

DT Swiss then.

Almost as bullet proof as hopes - they don't seal as well, so need more maintenance.
