Ok, so this weekend starting on friday was a very bad one for me. I am not trying to start a debate, or a political row...just asking you all to spare a thought (and prayer) for a friend & colleague of mine.

On saturday, one of my senior physio's was brutally assaulted upon her return home. She was beaten by a group of men in her own house. Then she was left for dead after they made off with her BMW 5series and loads of personal items.

I recieved the news yesterday morning, and it breaks my heart to think that somebody endured something as terrible as this.

She is currently still in ICU, with massive head trauma and other internal injuries. ARV's have also been started. So please spare a thought.

I have also decided that I no longer wish to reside here. Its a terrible way to live.

Thank you guys. Its terrible. It was all I could think of the whole day yesterday, and then when Carte Blanche came on, it was more of the same evil stuff. Its just heart breaking that an innocent womans life can be ruined like that.

You know when everybody heard I was coming to Afghanistan everybody said / asked  " why do you want to go to a war zone" being in SA I don't think you are are far off.  Got the missus speeking to people in OZ looking for aplications to emigrate to OZ.  In SA you are supposed to be safe at home  Here I am expecting something to happen every moment, in SA you are supposed to be calm and not expect trouble,  but with all the Illegals in the country  YOU ARE NOT SAFE EITHER

GO give her my best,  Hope for the best

Watched the carte blanche session, so much for being compliant when confronted to avoid injury, they still shoot you. Life is very cheap in SA.

Biggest problem in SA though sammajoor is that you're not allowed to fight back!  I am not allowed to discharge my firearm at a robber/rapist/murderer found in my home, but all is ok if they kill/rape my family!

GO, our thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

Ironically, I can leave this country for Europe in less than 24 hours and yet I am still hanging around.  Not sure why?

Really sad news. I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

I don't know why these people just take what they want and leave the people alone. Earthly possessions are replaceable, but the scars left on the person/s going throught such ordeals almost never heal.

Grey Owl, your friend is in our prayers. Terrible how the violence touches evryone around us. I lost my brother in-law a few years back in a hijacking. He was a colleuge, firnd and brother.

I feel safer in Nigeria than I would in RSA.
