Dear All,

I am Octavian, and I am a double poster.

So, Admin has banned me, but as you can see that term is relative.

I have lost my profile, which while upsetting, for me isn’t a train smash in the bigger scheme of things.

Do I regret what I have done? Yes I do.

Will I do it again? No I won’t.

So, I am sure the million dollar question is, why did I do it? Let’s put it like this…It was a moment of stupidity on my part, and as I described to Admin, I really was just having some fun, and I was enjoying the banter that my alter-ego, Blackboy, was engaging in. You will note from the thread that I hadn’t insulted anyone, I hadn’t called anyone a “clickhead” or “ghey”, nor had I initiated any form of personal attack on anyone.

Had I known that my profile would be deleted permanently, I would without a doubt not have done it. At worst I was expecting a warning point, if caught. I had no idea that engaging in this behavior, would carry a permanent ban when contrasting it against the personal, racist, religious, homophobic, insulting type commentary that goes unpunished on this forum. Some of which I have also got carried away in from time to time, which is also something that I regret, and for which I have without fail issued a personal apology to anyone that I thought I had insulted/wronged. However, I challenge anyone here that hasn’t done anything regrettable to step forward and to cast the first stone. I realise also that I at times am a **** stirrer, but I assure you it is never done with any malice. I enjoy playing devil’s advocate and enjoy taking a non-conformist view on many issues, as I strongly feel that very little of what you see is how it really is. Life is not black & white…

Why am I writing this letter? Well, I accept that what I did was wrong and that I shouldn’t have done it. Saying that I am quite hurt at the severity of the action that was handed out to me, and the very evident double standards that are applied in this forum.

However, the main reason for writing this letter is to hold out to all of the great people that I have been able to share experiences with here, that I will miss you all. The majority of you have been in many instances the only compassionate sounding board for me during turbulent times. And I will miss you for that. Likewise, the majority of you have also been there for me during good times, and have shared with me in enjoying many things that we have in common, and I will miss you for this as well. For all this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I will never be able to post as Octavian again, and I am sad for that as it is many relationships that have come to an end with one foul click of a mouse button.

Lastly, once again, I want to thank you all for what you have meant to me, and will still mean to me….

Double poster it takes a great man to admit when he did wrong. For that I commend you and respect you. Hope Admin reads your post and revise his decision to ban you.

Respect.

My only question is:

How do we know for sure you are Octavian and are really sorry or maybe just another double poster looking for attention.

If your the real Oct then thanks for coming online and explaining, hope everything works out well.

To the OP let me start by saying that I was not affected in any way by your double posting so it is really not in my remit to accept your apology or not. However, it is clear from your post that you have been affected by these events in a very personal way and you felt the need to express your feelings in this regard. Which, I would like to suggest indicates that the perception that your fellow Hubbers have of you is quite important to you.

I can personally identify with this as I have a personal rule that dictates to me that I will not say anything to a fellow Hubber that I would not be prepared to say to them in person, face to face. Of course, as is often the case, some of the less principled Hubbers do not afford me the same courtesy and my solution to this is to simply use the ignore function.

So please view the following question in the context given above. What I fail to understand from your post is why you felt the need to express your contrarian views through a pseudonym? Being a Devil's Advocate is a perfectly acceptable practice as long as it is identified as such. In fact the Catholic Church has used this practice during the canonisation process.

Respect for coming out...

The banter was somewhat fun...

Strange things happening on the hub...

Respect! You will be missed
true...

I like the stirring sometimes... I dont take it serious...

Sticks and stones will brake my bones, but words on the hub can only be fun!

Just one more addition from me...

I cant throw the first stone (or any for that matter) as I have stepped over the line a time or twice

My personal opinion would be to give you a second chance... just saying
