To my homeboy Ebrahiem Salie and partner from Austarlia. All the best in conquering the route, do your best time ever and have a safe journey in the process. Enjoy....

First team in at 4h26m - about 10 minutes slower than the quickest time last year (Edit - quickest time for the adventure)

Apparently very muddy out there!

Started in A this morning. Nice setup in Lourensford with a cool vibe. It was very cold before we set off. Got a really nice start and lead up the beginning of the first climb. One or two teams made attacks up the climbs which we responded to and got the place back to take 2nd behind a solo rider. The rain basically poured the entire race. The descent from Lourensford was very slippery. From Lourensford there is some nice single track and then we hit the portage section.

The portage is only just over a km but I really hated it. Another team caught us up the walk but didn't get passes.

Once the portage finally finished we hit the sandy trails of the tru cape course. The team that was behind overtook on a gradual climb. One of the guys that passed us had a front fork that had totally collapsed. We took the position back on the single track but it wasn't for long as we lost the place again. We spent the last 20km of the race alone. The last 10km seemed never ending. We eventually pulled into Oak Valley in 4:29 and second team. The solo rider was first across the line.

The oak valley race village is a rainy mud swomp, so after a quick (cold) shower, massage and lunch we made the hours drive home to have a comfortable night.

Hopefully the weather is better tomorrow.

4hrs29 is bloody blistering  - I hope you go to the "prizegiving" and get to down a beer and do a dance while you're doing it as punishment for riding such an insanely fast time in the laid back Adventure. ;) Good luck for tomorrow. :)

out of interest why a cold shower? I hope there was warm water at least?

I think I was just unlucky. My partner Owen had a hot shower. My thinking we that maybe the boilers hadn't warmed up yet.

Everyone else seemed to get hot water. I was just too tired to change showers...
