So to summarize there shouldn't be a 4th event because Farmer Glen wouldn't be able to play cheerleader for everybody

I can't deny that there is some of the X-factor lacking when Farmer Glen is not around the trails & campsite, but with 1000s of people on the waiting list sentimentality is not a good enough reason NOT to do a 4th event.

With all respect to an amazing man, I didn't do the Sani2C to experience Farmer Glen, I went for the mtb'ing. I say if they can handle the logistics, bring on the 4th event - a brilliant idea...

not the point I was trying to make. Let's just leave it at, the vibe is not the same anymore. It is starting to feel "commersialised".

As I said, everyone should have it on their bucket list. Just note that the vibe at a stage race is just as important as the racing itself. It is about the complete package. The whole experience, not just the cycling.

But don't take my word for it, I know nothing

IMHO I can clearly see the difference in the race in the last three years, not just farmer glen, stuff like water stations running out of water, just general attention to detail is SLIPPING am I going to do it again this year?? HELL YEAH but I think adding another event will take more away from the event as it has already put the event under strain with the adding of the trail,

I think once you have ridden it, they must put you on a waiting list for 2yrs or so, else no new guys will get in. been trying Joberg2c, sani2c and epic and never get in. So the lucky few that have ridden, always get first choice....

IMO you should gun for which ever event runs first. be part of the first batch to go through as by the time the "race" starts the poor staff is so tired they can die. And, seeing all the skill failures this year at the race it seems unskilled riders ride in all the events...

I get that its not nice seeing the Sani2C becoming more "commercialised" and losing some of the vibe, but I think its an inevitable side-effect when a successful event grow bigger with time. I think the benefits to the community and giving more riders the opportunity outweighs the negatives.

Thats preferable to me as opposed to something like the Imana Wild Ride which is so impossibly exclusive that its basically impossible for new riders to get in.

I would then say they should run it like Berg and Bush. Host the events over different weekends. Sure, it will be more costly to do so, but their infrastructure should handle the load better and the staff will be able to get some sleep.

sure, there might be many reasons why it might not be possible to split the events over different weekends. But then again, adding more and more events directly after each other thust to meet the demand is also not the best idea. How about 2 back-to-back events in May and another 2 back-to-back events later the year, say end Sep?

I get is, lots of people have been on the waiting list for years and they would say, just add another event or just allow more entries per event. Honestly I get it. I would also say that if I was in their shoes.

But, I've seen how the event have changed. I for one would rather the event implement a waiting list for previous riders like Waynehans mentioned than to just add more people and more events, and thereby messing it up for everyone. IMO races should work on first come first serve. no waiting lists or priorities. it works well for 1 day races. Sure, these events sell out fast, but so be it

Don't think we will enter again this year . The fees are just going up and up every year , will stay with the 3 Towers until such time as their fees also outruns inflation .

best value for money still

Don't know what they are complaining about. I saw farmer Glen on day 2 and 3 of the trail and got my pic at the end. Such a nice pic I got it put onto a mug for fathers day with the wording "Worlds best Sani2C partner" :-)

The race has changed over the years. The entry fee has double, the number of event participants trebled.

The route has become much easier to ride, efforts of the local community cutting trails have increased.

The food menu has stayed the same - sadly :)

The goodie bag has improved.

This year - lack of sound/video at Mackenzie was very disappointing at the dinner race debrief. so was the poor sound at Joilvet.

Mud in the tents at Jolivet was very annoying - adventure riders just didnt give a damn that the tent was going to be used the next day.

the route changes were nice - blerry floating bridge on day 3 and all.

massages - very good.

Is it still fun - definitely.

Value for money - mmmm...

This was my third year.

I found the experience diluted. but it could be a little of my own doing.

My entry is being handed over to my wife, it will be her first event, and i am sure she is going to love it.

It's on to a new event for my partner and I. Not sure what yet.
