Tis steep - & the mealy-mouthed statistic "R2.50 per rider per km" made me smile and remember another one.

Heinz beans used to say "penny for penny, more protein than beef".

(leaving out that you'd have to eat a bathful to get the same hit as a steak).

Lies, damn lies and statistics.

If you don't like the price, don't participate. I've said it before, these races are not cheap to stage. Medical assistance etc. is not free but is taken for granted by the participants, medals, road closure if there is is also charged for and not all staff are volunteers.

Let's not forget that these guys also need to make a profit, I doubt all of them do it for the love of the game.

Something is only worth what someone's prepared to pay for it. It must be worth it to some because the event continues to take place! Good luck to the organisers, I'd love to can my job and make a living arranging races and other events.

I think the moan is that the price is jumping up way higher than inflation...therefore it's not a cost based price, but market driven. It's not a new event in any way, but it seems to be getting more corporate/expensive/fency each year.
