I've got a titanium bolt here that never fitted on anything I had. You can have it if its the right size. I will measure and let you know.

what he said.

just go to google maps in your browser and search "buy Nuts and Bolts", or look in your good old fashion phone book.

its should list a bunch of outlets that sell them, just give the shop closest a call first to make sure they've got what your looking for in stock

If you have a single bolt in there, it should ideally be a high tensile bolt. These don't come in stainless or galvanized, only black.

However, M7 is very, very strange. Sure it is not M6?

Eish...

Stainless is not necessarily stronger at all, they do rust, and they are not heavier in any way that counts.

To the OP - get a rated replacement bolt - stainless is a good idea - minimum 8.8, and preferably 12.7 rating - that is a strength rating - nothing to do whether it is stainless or not.

A decent nut and bolt shop will be able to help you.

it is a very strange size, not even imperial 3/8, 1/4, if you measure the thickness of the shaft in between the threads that also can help. The 8.8 cap screw should be fine, a 12.7 in cap screw is also not too normal.

Could it be a worn M8, 7.6mm should start registering on the M8 scale.
