Did the same thing, bought a MTB for winter to get up and ride later when it's a bit warmer. After my first winter i got back on the road bike and got taken out by a car, so back on the MTB and shyt scared to ride on the roads. when i think back to the 2000 / 2001 riding early morning road was a pleasure, but now it's lik epeak hour even at 5 am.

so i'll stick to MTB but will never sell my Colnago

Keep it!

In Jozi its much of a muchness getting hit by a Taxi on the road or hit by a golf club in the bush you still end up on your @ss.

I do both and love it, my feeling just be a cyclist.

Same problem here, what I did was to keep my road bike only for full road closure races(94.7 & Argus) and the rest I ride Mtb. Also if one bike goes for a service you have another one. Like racman said, 26" FS, 29er HT and perhaps a SS.

I started mtb'ing a year ago after being on the road bike for 12 years. Since then I've been alternating between the 2. During the week I use the mtb to hit the dirt roads were there's not much traffic and weekends I hit the tar for coffee rides. I must say, if you ask me to choose, I still prefer the road

Never ever sell any bikes, just add more. You also need a track bike and a single speed MTB as well and then a tandem...

n+1 indeed!!!

Now that sounds Ideal to me! wish I had the cash to do so though! I'm not exactly rolling in the pounds...

Thanks for all the replies, I'm really enjoying the read! Mountain biking will always be my first love (why does that sound cheesy? you know what I mean). Where I stay the weekend rides are just about always on mountain bikes (even the 'roadies' who own one often jumps in on weekends. So it's difficult! Perhaps Tarmac is right: 'I mos know the answer' <_<
