... That is just nuts! - even if you have the money

If I had jeans that looked like that Id give them to a garden executive, if someone told me they had paid that kind of money for jeans that looked vucked like that, Id suggest he gets therapy.

I have jeans that look like that. It makes perfect sense that they cost R4k.

I bought them six years ago for about R400 and have warn them many times since. If you take into account the electricity, water and soap cost of washing them a hundred times or more. Plus the travel expenses to get to all the spots that have worked together to get it to look like that. Plus my hourly rate those pants should be alot more.

A new trend that is rearing its ugly head here is the " Im selling it for a friend" card. WTF?? Is the friend a bloody retard or something? IMO, it is an effort to sell something but distance yourself from potential comebacks. Just this morning I responded to such an ad. I called the friend who obviously had not been briefed yet. He couldnt tell me anything about the item, didnt even know the price! Promised to call me back later...... He better because in my book, name and shame is the name of the game.

But back to the subject at hand - many of prices in the hub classifieds are ridiculous. All these guys selling 2-3 year old Anthem 29er's for 18k (post one or two Epics) when you can buy one new on special for 18k. As for all the guys who think their 5 year old 26er are worth 15k or more??

And MTBeer if that's you in your pic, I would gladly sell you anything :lol:

I agree in a way, but sometimes (actually many times) the people have upgraded their anthems and are looking to cover that cost too. So it becomes a finer line, you're still getting an older anthem, but with some new bikebling

Is it me or are items in classifieds on The Hub often grossly overpriced?

Example is the Giant TCR comp 2 in the link underneath.

The frame is a 2010 model and at the time retailed for R18.5k (I know cause I had one)

Surely you are dreaming if you think that after 2 to 3 years you only have to hand in 2k? Would havethought it more realistic for the drop in value to be of the order of 30 - 50%, wich woudl mean the bike sells for 9 -12k

Thoughts?

Agree totally.

Was in the market for a racing bike two months ago. Actively scanned theHub's classifieds for suitable offerings. During the time walked into CWC and prices were within R1k - R2k (for a R15k - R20k bike). Decided to go the "new" route. Will recommend to anybody.

Imo a second hand bike should be 50% less than new if only for the loss of replacement guarantee.

The only thing you need to buy is an iron, because as you know... as time gets on, it gets creased

If you really wanna be a sheeple one day apple will make an iRon, then you can look cool too pressing out your creases :whistling:

Iron doesnt love us anymore
