Rock n Roll Extreme Blue.

Works in all conditions, even stays on when it gets soaked. Does not attact dust and dirt easily.

Not sure where you can find it in JHB though.

Purple extreme is pretty good as well, but becoming hard to find and does not keep the chain as clean as Rock n Roll.

Squirt is more wax based and tends to build up dirt exactly where you do not want it.

Just my 2c

I've used Clean Ride White Lighting which keeps the chain very clean but I feel that it's not such a great lube. Have to lube too often.

Then I tried Q-in-one (the liquid version of Q20). It's available @ GAME for R36 and is easy to apply. The drivetrain does get dirtier than with the white lighting but it stays lubed for longer. The dirt is also not a sticky, chunky type of greasy dirt, it's just a thin oil base tha tforms but is VERY easy to clean with parraffin. Works well.

Just buy whatever lube you want and fits your pocket. Like someone said earlier on this topic - what's most important is cleaning the drivetrain and relubing quite often.

I use GO chain wax from Bearing man.

I must say it works really well and keeps the chain clean.

my only issue is it builds up on the chainring and is a bit stubborn to get off when you try clean it.

Have done a 65km ride and up to 6 or so rides just with relube no cleaning.

I tried Finish line the last 2 days, put it on and wiped off the excess.

Its rubbish.

picked up soo much sand and could hear and feel my chain grating the whole time.

I only use Rock 'n Roll Gold. Never had any problems and oesn't clog the chain..

Op, try a finish Line Cycles in Kempton. They have a selection of lube. Not Rock 'n Roll though. I know Solomon's stocks it in Woodmead.

Pity...

I used this stuff at Joberg2c and was scraping the crap out between my 11t & 12t gears becasue they were useless due to all the caked up squirt mixed with dirt. I swore in about 5 made up languages and 2 other hubbers bore witness to this. Maybe its great for a road bike but not for a MTB.

Changed to that purple stuff and have never looked back or needed to re-lube on a ride.

Thats me experience

You guys still using the purple stuff? If so, where are you buy it? No one close by me sell it anymore...

I dont use that anymore, I use a little of the oil I use in my motorbike... thats 10w60

I do use that bottle though

It works exactly the same, just doesnt smell as nice but I dont think my chain really cares about smell of oil
