Time to replace 29er wheels. American classic or Easton??

Hi guys,

I currently ride a trek superfly elite HT. Its a brilliant bike, full carbon all round.

It has the std Bontrager RL wheels and am looking at replacing them with either

American classics

or Easton ea70 XCT

Im leaning towards the Eastons (price and look) but are slightly heavier

Is it actually worth upgrading? I tend to think the bike i bought is brilliantly specced except the wheels and shock...

Any thoughts

I am in the same boat. I also would really like to know if it is worth upgrading the roval rims on my Specialized camber. My main reason would be to get the weight down. So I am watching this closely. Nice post. Thanks

For what its worth, I swopped my DT Swiss (syncros) wheels for Mavic crossmax ST's 29er. great wheelset.

Citec wheels.

+1. Gonna pass on some advice that I got last week - "Speak to 'The Citec Guy'". Even though I'm not running them, got some good advice back from him on some options.

+1 For Captain Cheesy Citec wheel alternative

Speak to a guy on the forum called Eldron he brings them in. He's extremely friendly, very help full and can give you all the inns and outs.

I read up on these wheels and they are kick ass when you see the tech that's gone onto them as well as their policies regarding warranties.

Eason hubs do have some serious issues with bearings, design, keeping water-out. Been there, got the T-shirt.

They look great, but the ongoing (and costly) maintainence makes me think Am Classic, is a better route.

You should also consider building up a set of Hope/ZTR wheels, great value too.
