I wouldnt try my luck with an ostrich, even if I was super fit, on strava and a Strav- @hole...what some people do just to get hits on youtoob and FB continues to amazes me.

Like most hubbers said: Its a nature reserve, the animals are wild, not tame. Just maybe used to cyclists and runners in THEIR habitat. Respect the animals and ride around them or wait.

Yeah, Ostriches get up to 60km/h or something crazy like that and they can quite simply kick you stone dead - when I get my first KOM on Strava I will challenge one

It is not a simple as that . A few times at 6am I have ran into one of these animals coming around the corner . It is not easy to make a fast u-turn on th single track and normally I just stop and wait for something to happen . Getting that close the the camelhorse happens often , you don't need to be "looking" for it .

On the bright side, tourists pay a lot of money to get close encounters with our wildlife. Most of us live less than 25km from Groenkloof and only have to pay R30 to ride the awesome trails and enjoy the wildlife.

I wouldnt call it an attack at all, although I cant figure out why these guys took so long to leave the area.
