Anodising Services in Jhb?

Want to anodise some old aluminium door frames (the frames can be taken apart easy peasy).

Also want to anodise an aluminium frame.

 

What are some good places in Jhb to go to?

 

Found a good article explaining differences between anodised and powdercoated finishes.

I'll be watching this thread. Anakote in Roodepoort that used to do my anodizing has gone belly up it seems.

 

There is an anodizing place in Wynberg (Sandton's Wynberg, not Cape Town's) that specializes in long things. I don't know the street name or company name but I can direct you to them if you phone or e-mail me. This company does items up to three meters long.

Design Anodising factor burnt down a few years ago, they sent me to Astroholding, who have done a good job on the few jobs I have taken there, They also do powder coating (I think)

Astro are good. I used to have a lot of my quad parts anodized there. There's another place in Boksburg near Atlas rd that does hard anodizing... Will find the details. I want to have my old XTR cranks hard anodised.

hehehe, wonder how many of use know about all these spots because of our quads.

there is another spot in Kempen, an old Denel work lab/station, still staffed by the original people.

Astro wouldn't touch my crank, as they were afraid that the shaft would disintegrate in the acid bath. I wouldn't have been the first.. Had mine powder coated instead. Let us know if you are successful.

It is huge problem for anodisers if there is steel in the component. Sometimes they stick a silicone putty onto small pieces but I can see why they declined your crank. It would be very risky.

wow i just spoke to astro, am definitely sending my ss frame there to get anodized, they have just quoted me 300 bucks to anodize in any color i want.

astro for the win.

Astro is good and do any color so that would be my bet..
