I must admit to being confused.

The OP makes a number of accusations and he's not the only one.

ASG post a message, but not one of the accusations is answered.

There's a whole lot of white noise in between (or perhaps black noise).

But, the questions remain:

Who does the JACARANDA belong to?

Is the contract, that was signed, still in force?

What contract was signed? (one has been presented, but no answer from ASG)

Is the CLUB demurring from pursuing this in court because of the costs of litigation?

I'm sure there are others, but I'll leave to those more intelligent than me to list them.

I must admit the commercialisation of cycling events are killing the sport. Max entry fees max profits max benefit to charities. This killed of most of the smaller races.

Also all the service providers are very expensive. On line entries and timing is very over priced.

Why must cycling money go to charities.

Look what happened to the Argus entries. Only something like 40% of entries were sold to individuals, rest by organizations/charities - only way you can still enter now is buy entries from them!

Just to be clear guys - the event is obviously still going ahead. More than 1000 entries received so far. Entries are open - www.cycleevents.co.za

Looking forward to another great event.

Glad to hear. But is there not another solution for future events to the start/finish area? Last year I found the route from Broederstroom turn to the finish quite dangerous with cars and traffic. Just something to think about for future editions of the race. Rest of the route is great though!

The Jakaranda Cycling Club has 3 events on the CA annual racing calendar:

In order to list and event on the CSA calendar a club has to register the event and also pay the relevant fees.

For all the below listed events Jakaranda Cycling Club has listed and paid the relevant fees each year.

Ownership? By virtue that the Jakaranda Cycling Club started these events, paid all registration fees to place the event on the CSA annual Calendar etc would then by default indicate that the said event belongs to the club as CSA accepted the payment towards the event.....correct?

The Events are as follows:

1) Pre- Argus Road race

2) "Win with a Tin" Race - traditional where participating cyclists give a food tin or toy for charity (name could change depending on the sponsor)

This race takes place on 22 Spetember this year....

IT DOESNT REPLACE THE JAKARANDA SATELLITE CLASSIC it has always been its own event.

Normally week 38 of the annual calendar

3) Jakaranda Satellite Classic

which was first hosted by the Jakaranda Cycling Club in 2000 and every year ever since.

the route was "developed" by the club, and the start and finish was from the Telkom Satellite Teleport station

It was one of the few Gauteng events that enjoyed Argus seeding, such as the Dome 2 Dome race.

It has been the Jakaranda Cycling Club (Telkom Cycling Club) event since its inception in 2000.

Scheduled for week 42 of the annual calendar.

Hope this clarifies any misunderstanding.

Since our first dealing with Mr De Villiers we did not like the Necsa Start/Finish.

He and Johan was however insistant that it should take place there....because the venue cost was free....

Great news is that Jakaranda Cycling Club have secured a much safer Start/Finish without putting any of the participants or its own members working that day lifes at risk.

Being cyclists our selves we have always approached the event from a "Safety First" aspect and for the past 3 years we have each year had negative replies about the venue.

Why would they start their again and use this same venue....simple it for free!!! More profit!!! Is it Safe??? NO it isn't...

The traffic on that road is dangerous.

Motorists get highly irate due to marshal intervention in traffic patterns.

So as I see it by agreement Mr Devilliers was running the event on the clubs behalf and now Mr Devilliers works for/sold the rights to ASG to host the event and cut the club out of the loop? Does the club still get any payment from ASG for the right to host/run the event?
