marko35s Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Give us your "one bike to the top, one bike from the top and one bike to conquer them all" summary...I did go all "My precious" on the Vipa didn't I.If the question is which would I chose without doubt the Vipa, it seemed the better all round package to me.But remember you are asking a Datsun owner to chose between a Bentley and an Aston - neither would be a bad choice or in any way disappointing. One thing I have found is that after going up there again yesterday is that I am slightly more confident on my bike. It bounces and rattles more, I still panic more etc but I am going through areas that I previously ducked because your bikes showed me it could be done.Still won't go near Cobra though...
Iwan Kemp Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 Glad you enjoyed the ride and your first 29er sample. Still won't go near Cobra though... I'll lend you the HDR...
DJR Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Glad you enjoyed the ride and your first 29er sample. I'll lend you the HDR... Why not offer to let me ride it? Did the rusting, dented, oil leaking piece of farming equipment that I drive, lead you to conclude that I'll mistreat your Precious?

ScottCM Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Yesterday was a day of firsts for me 1st Giba gorge experience1st outing on trails witj cleats (came 2nd best . Need a lot more practice)1st time I saw a vipa up close. No photo pr article can do this beauty justice I got so lost that two guy's one on a giant the other on a vipa let me follow them back. Watching the vipa in front of gliding through so effortlessly was truly amazing to see Ps happy new year to all
Percyzn Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 thanks to GMC for the Demo I had the pleasure of 45kms in karkloof on a new Vipa yesterday. It was really awesome. Very quick in the twisty stuff and climbs well. It felt nimble and responsive on most parts of the trails and handled the technical downs pretty well. It struck me as a great all rounder. Comparing my times in those sections that I ride a lot, it was only marginally slower than my hardtail single speed on most of the trails, and quicker on one or two sections, and the demo was not set up 100% to my liking.Overall verdict, a really well designed sweet ride. photo 3, was pissing around at one of the gap jumps, waiting for my mates to ramp over me
Iwan Kemp Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Vipa has had some lovin'. Trusty Race Face SixC has made way for a Momsen Design Up/ Down bar and my V1 stem for a Downer stem. Stem is an absolute work of carbon art. Front of the bike is a lot lower thanks to -20 of the stem and the flat bar compared to my 19mm rise SixC and 0 degree stem. Bike still handles like a dream. Nippy, agile and damn bloody fast.
MOMSEN529 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Please do share where you got that stem from?
feetup Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I'm loving the local bikes in the pic-WELL DONE! As for that Vipa**** HOT!**** HOT!one of the best looking bikes world wide for sure.
