a medium frame with rear shock in the classifieds for R20K

Jest tested out the Vipa, these bikes are special, Bit of heart and soul in that frame. Gives you confidence and a sweet ride, i think a rear lockout is advisable for longer rides, even so i could spend days on it.

It`s a large thank god otherwise I might have bought it.

Agreed this bike needs the XX shock with remote at the back the Fox with pro-pedal on/climb mode is still completely too soft for a race machine. The XX shock locks out properly, not pro-pedal-bob like a Fox.

I'm more than happy with mine with the Monarch in the back. Hardly ever use lock out. Have ridden one with a 2014 CTD and it's like night and day. Made me realise just how much I need to replace the Fox on my HDR.

Your wallet's not save yet...

How tall are you? I'm 179 and ride a Large with a 60mm downer stem and it's a perfect fit. ALL 29ers should run shorter stems - does wonders for the steering and single track handling.
