rotorbug Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I have swopped out the Shimano XT rear derailleur for the Shadow Plus model, no more annoying chain slap! I have also purchased a 180mm front disc, just waiting for the 10mm spacer for the front caliper. The standard 160mm front disc is inadequate. Also fitting a Ritchey 80mm straight trail stem to get the bars where I want them. Ritchey don't stock the blatte finish 15mm rise trail carbon bars in SA. Last thing I will do is graft a Specialised Epic rubber chain guard on to get rid of the cheap carbon Momsen one. Looks like they bought a roll of cheap carbon tape at an AutoStyle shop.

Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 How does your bike handle with that short 60mm stem and 760mm wide bars?Far better than with an 80mm stem and 720mm bars, I can tell you that!
Iwan Kemp Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 How does your bike handle with that short 60mm stem and 760mm wide bars? Great! At 179 I have laid down my Medium bike past and have over the last couple of years gone with a Large (for the longer reach) and short stem / wide bar (for the handling). I think ALL 29ers should be made this way as it goes a long way towards sorting the sluggish steering of a 29er. I wouldn't have it any other way!
GlockG4 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 My Vipa xt has arrived in its box at the shop, going to start the build tomorrow moring, want to go to bed now to get there faster, and just in time for Christmas.
Guest rockan.keyy Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Great.
rotorbug Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I didn't like the cheap Momsen Chainstay protector so I grafted a 2012 Specialized Epic on instead. Needed a little persuasion with a Stanley knife but a pretty good fit.
Gandalf Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Very cool to see the Vipa feature in the IMBIKEMAG Well done
Iwan Kemp Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Yes, great to see local making waves overseas.
