Iwan Kemp Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 More Stringbean Ek het myne oor die tel.gekoop... Shocker!
sias Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm hoping to come in at close to 10kg as possible.
ScottCM Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 talking of racing ralphs, what is the difference between Schwalbe Racing Ralph Performance Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo Tubeless Ready Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo and how does the Schwalbe Hans Dampf Evo Snakeskin compare?
Pure Savage Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Victor's own bike. Love the black Revelation (spaced to 120mm) and the custom brake levers. Could have gotten a black and red Garmin 500!! This thread is why I don't mtb, I would get carried away and end up broke. Spend way too much keeping my 2005 Scott s4 going!! This viper does look awesome
Iwan Kemp Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 VIPA VI - VIctor MomsenPA - PAtrick Morewood
Iwan Kemp Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 I'm hoping to come in at close to 10kg as possible. Have seen XX1, Stan's Crest build come in at 10.4kg. Have also seen a sub 10kg uber build!
rock Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 VIPA VI - VIctor MomsenPA - PAtrick Morewood Still would have preferred MoMo Mo - Victor MomsenMo - PAtrick Morewood
Iwan Kemp Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Schwalbe Racing Ralph PerformancePerformance Line. Basically an older version of the current Evo Line Schwalbe Racing Ralph Evo Tubeless ReadyEvo line. Latest tech and comes Tubeless Ready or "TLR". Means the sidewall has a bit of extra beef to seal it. Schwalbe Racing Ralph EvoAs above, but not Tubeless ready and how does the Schwalbe Hans Dampf Evo Snakeskin It's bigger brother with the Rocket Ron in between. Will have plenty more grip, but you will sacrifice some weight and rolling resistance. compare? All in all. For up there Racing Ralps should do. Maybe get a Rocket Ron for front. Ideally get a snakeskin model (beefed up sidewalls to prevent cuts and ultimately looooong walks) that is TLR.
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 All in all. For up there Racing Ralps should do. Maybe get a Rocket Ron for front. Ideally get a snakeskin model (beefed up sidewalls to prevent cuts and ultimately looooong walks) that is TLR. To continue - the Hans Dampf is the big brother of the Rocket Ron and Racing Ralph. I'd second Crow here - Rocket for the front, Racing for the rear. Both Snakeskin TLR versions. You do not want to compromise int he puncture prevention stakes (just ask all those who took the ultra lightweight tires in the epic what they think!)
sias Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Just saw the most useless "review" of the Vipa on Supercycling. Not exactly making me rush out to buy one...
ScottCM Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Just saw the most useless "review" of the Vipa on Supercycling. Not exactly making me rush out to buy one... As informative as what supercycling can be sometimes. I find their reviews extremely biased. If they dont perticularly fancy a bike, race, accessory they might mention it but without any great value or enthusiasm, which is very sad in this case. Not only cause its a local manufacturer but seen as i have not heard a single bad thing from anyone who owns one, surely the bike must be worth a proper review on a show that most of the continent watches.
sias Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 sias can you share that with us please What he basically said was that it was a nice bike with 80mm of travel that would go well on a marathon. Oh yes, and that it was South African. That's about it really...Nothing on how it climbs and descends, how it handles tight courses, is it twitchy or more "laid back", those types of things. As I said, useless...
Namib@RP Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Naant Sias/Storm 78 Sias praat jy van van die supercycling wat die week op was ?As dit so is het Neil so n bietjie meer gese. Neil het gese "Victor Momsen sought the best brain he could find. How better than Patrick Morewood and 3D graphics designer Mark Hopkens"Neil :"Patrick got a special talent to put the pivot in the right place" (If you look at the Pyga/Morewood frames these is good/excellent frames) So dit se vir my dat die vipa raam n goeie raam ontwerp is.. (moet maar net besluit wat jy op sit XT/XTR/XX1) Dan het Neil ook gese:"What rely impressive is how efficient the suspension under peddling is.This is important in long rocky claims, get good traction. Neil ,The viper feels nice and nippy like a marathon bike should. Ek sit ook vanaand met die nuwe Bicycling voor my. Bl.98 Cannondale Trigger 1 /Bl 100 Momsen Vipa en Pyga onetwentey Bl 104 Specialized Camber.Daar is n kort stuk oor elkeen geskryf ,maar nie een van hulle het bicycling gese die is die bike om te koop.Nie een van die stukke laat jou oe rek nie (ScottC-M het gese "I find there reviews extremely baised" en ek stem saam.) Die Viper stuk op bl100 "P Morewood is the modest-yet-talented suspension designer behind some of ZA best bikes""Founder V Momsen sought out the best brains he could find to create the fastest bike in the land"The Vipa is designed to be pedalled hard, the kinematics are tuned to be responsive on the ups with just enough on the downs"(in die regte hande sal jy n Vipa kan bou so op die 10-10.5kg , .Myne is al op 11.21kg en daar is baie ruimte vir verbetering.
