This does raise an interesting point - what is it exactly that excites us about steel?

For me:

The human input - knowing that a human has lovingly handled and welded the bike.

The ride - it's so whippy and flexy that it rides soooo nice.

The traditional look - round tubes are old school.

The against the flow aspect - in a carbon and alu world where efficiency and weight are all that count it's nice to have a heavy bike that wobbles when youo ride it because few others do it.

Yea and if I had to guess all of the above, only been on my steel bike for a month or so, but everytime I have a jol, everytime I wake up at sparrow's to go and ride whilst others are still behind "mamma se wit boude" I get excited. Knowing that someone that probably rides bikes themselves sat down and made this thing out of steel pipes makes me smile.

Sure it might still be the honeymoon phase with the bike, but then no other bike has given me this much pleasure before...loving life on my steel donkey

For me its a bit of nostalgia, I come from the late '80's and school boy road racing.

We all rode steel, so I guess I hang onto that a little.

I also like the idea that steel is hand made, by a skilled artisan who has a passion for what he does.

In a world of mass produced goods from places like China, I just like that there are still people out there that have the skill and passion.

Also love the detail of steel, specially lugged frames, no Carbon or Aluminium can do that.
