I was in that group, not sure if it was the same fall though. All I remember there were two ladies in the fall, one with a pink shirt (young rider) that came down infront of me. About 5-6 people fell there in the middle. The B group had alot of people, PPA marchel kept on indicating to the rides to stay left of the middle line several times warning them.

Rolling hills sorted everyone.

yup, might be same fall,

i was chatting to the marshal every now and then asking him to get the slower riders up front to move left which he agreed, the problem came when the group had to overtake slower riders who were riding in the middle of the road.

Dale, our entire group went over the white line at one point. (Then again, there was no marshall in sight at that time.) If they DQ us for that... coz here's the situation:

Coming down the descend on Swaelstert mooooving and crosswinds making it interesting as is, I hear yelling and just see jinking to the right. Next moment I head right as well, having faced a car's headlights! Some eeeedjit decided to park his car in the left-hand (as we went) lane facing oncoming traffic and have a chat with his buddy on the side of the road! That with bunches of us flying down there on the left-hand side.

Thanks to the guys up front who gave warning...

Yeah, what was with that idiot parked there?

Edit: my bad. Apparently he was warning cyclists of an accident that had happened earlier.

Anyone in % group notice the retarded commissioner in silver Toyota Camry? He stopped half way up helshoogte and made entire group try get round him. Then going to paarl down a hill he slows down so much the group had to go into the oncoming traffic to pass him. He got a lot of abuse for his antics. Saw him on his cellphone as well.

Speaking of white lines, I saw a certain CTG rider sommer riding in the yellow line (on the right side of the road into oncoming traffic) coming down the hill after Klapmuts... with his helmet swinging from his handle bars! Absolute dumbass.... If I wasn't cramping so much I would of had some breath to shout at him..

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has this view but I always find the races in Paarl, Wellington, Durbanville areas to be a lot tougher than the Argus itself. Even though the routes a lot more flatter, the wind almost always plays a huge role which makes the race itself extremely difficult.

Yes, this guy shouldn't be allowed to ride a pacecar...his behaviour was very dangerous for the riders.

Lots of exposed open plains for the wind element to affect race conditions

QU: Or maybe its only me, but does anyone else feel that the way the certain sections of rode are newly tarred(so new we could still smell it actually) slows you down a tad on the free wheeling?? because its faaaaar from smooth, and when i eventually got past all the sections of newly tarred road, 3km later my hands were still vibrating LOL... But does anyone else feel their bike doesnt roll as smoothly and as freely??

I saw that! Nearly made me come off the back of the group when he did that! might as well have come off the back then, maybe I would have got 3 punctures (ok 2 actual punctures and 1 pinched tube to be honest) later down the line.

For this reason I was glad I was on my mtb. I felt for the roadies on those sections, they where horrible.

Those sections were tough! I was a little worried about my tyres to be honest.

I might be DQed.

Myself and a few others.

Our motorbike marshal was taking cell phone videos of us in the leading A bunch on the R44, guttering over the 'white wall'.

If you were in the leading A bunch on the R44, how did you manage to finish almost 9 minutes behind the leading A riders?

Absolutely, that newly tarred road was ten times worse than 40 grit production paper. Thankfully the precast concrete storm water runoff was nice and smooth... :whistling:

Yes, what a retard. I was near the front both times. He nearly caused two crashes... Also saw he was on his cellphone the second time!
