Bunch of twats..... No not the cyclists...... NO YOU ARE THE TWATS....... Making fun of them because they are fat...... FFS they are cyclists, one of us....... Do you have to be scrawny and thin and looking like you are anorexic to be called a cyclist. Shame on you you bunch of maargatte!!!!!

if I read what utter bollocks you people wrote I would say cyclists are not really people.

Hypocrite ... if people read what you wrote they would think you are tool ... oh wait thats what they already do. From your reaction im guessing you are also a fatty. You then go on to call people maargatte/twats ect. Do you see the irony in this?

Have you noticed the resemblance between his avatar and the OP pic?

1. Don't see that they are doing to much wrong besides the one guy. As mentioned he might be overtaking. 2.

All you guys that are having a dig as their sizes is just typical of how we cyclist are. Rude and obnoxious.

Right...... Here is a question. Please excuse it but I am a complete Noob to riding in SA. When I started riding on the road in Europe (recreationally), I was always taught to always ride two abreast, well spaced when on the road. The logic was that you had to dominate a lane in order to ensure that cars only overtook when it was safe to do so, similar to if there was a slow car on the road. Theoretically, this reduces the risk of cars squeezing past and putting you at risk. What is the etiquette here? I assume from this post that single file and non domination is the way to do it here????

I agree this is the only way to ride on a road. So what if some motorist hoots at me? I just wave and say howzit. The only bit I don't do is two abreast, but the hugging the pavement is not for me, I like to be visible and the best place to be visible is in the motorists line of sight. Pink helmet and all.

Now just to work out how to stay on my mountain bike when there are no cars around...

Going by the OP's original post and description....im assuming that picture was taken much later (since its further down opposite the school?)

If the earlier description is accurate....that the OP was correct.....that road hes describing only has 2 lanes (with parking on the right for PnP)....and that parking is ALWAYS full...so you cant cycle there. If those guys were riding even 2 abreast in that area...theyd be taking up the entire lane

So where are we at.

Leaving their size out of the equation, are they wrong or not.

They are probably not technically wrong, but I think that if there is a yellow lane, and taking the current attitude towards cyclist into account, rather try use it. This is probably more a perception thing along the lines of "look at those arrogant guys riding 4 abreast" than a "right vs wrong vs legal" thing.

As much as motorist have an obligation to look out for us, lets not make their and in turn our lives more difficult simply because.....

As a cyclist, you should know how it feels to be hooted at. Rather roll down the window, and address them as fellow cyclist.

The hooting and subsequent zapping really could have been avoided.

What is irony? That's a hugely intellectual notion here....

Looking at the pic again, yes these are groot ouens, not difficult to ignore .

Is that why the OP created the topic, NO.

My take on this, the guy being overtaken by the guy in the road could have been more in the gutter, his buddy woould not have had to go as wide as he did to overtake.

3rd. guy on the left of the pic (with the black top) is in the correct place for breast riding in the emergency lane.

Is the guy in the road an absolute pons, I don't think so, he is entitled to be there, and if it grates people so much that he might be "putting himself at risk" well it's his life.

I would have supported the rant if they all sat in the road as I see so many clubs do on their outrides.
