[Event] CORONATION DOUBLE CENTURY

Recommended Posts

We had a great ride! I shaved 40 minutes off my time from last year. The Team Pure Savage managed a 6:00:49. We were behind an accident on the line as someone tried sprinting for the line and went down 2 metres from the mats. There was some serious language exchanged, I could not breathe at that point so was not able to see or do anything.

Had a much better year with almost no cramps and spent some more time on the front. We stayed at Bontebok National Park which was a real treat.

Here are some photos from the event. There is a photo of me leading out Ben Swift from Sky :P (Good photo skills by the Mrs)

In this order.

1. Book your accommodation....last week already...serious!!

2. Confirm entry ASAP (Only 250 teams allowed)

3. Get 12 riders of very similar riding abilities & personalities. Those who don't gel to well can always be discarded along the way, depending on your team objectives.

What would the cost if this event be roughly? Ballpark totals?

Will look to do this next year.

Had a great 1st DC. Managed to scrape a 6. 33 after hanging in for as long as I could. Unfortunately these skinny legs just couldn't finish with the big guys in our Outriders team who went on to do a 6.20.

The atmosphere on the road was fantastic, the weather played ball, what more could you ask for.

Mental note to self though, don't camp/stay in a tent next year and that way I may get some sleep the night before.

The weather was great this year, it allowed our team a 05:57:31. 6min better than last year but two positions worse unfortunately. Not that it matters as the team goal was a sub 6 which we achieved while bringing 8 guys over the line together.

All in all it was really great and I can't wait for next years edition.

The guy was me taking a nice tumble!! :nuke:

Looked behind me where our 6th rider was then team mate came from inside...wished I fell over the line and not 2.5m before it!!

Getting too old for this :cursing:

Well done to all...do not think that weather was "easier", felt like we we riding most of the time against the wind.

Nice going Vodacom A - The B team will be hot on your (w)heels in 2014 ;-)

Great event, great team and great ride!

Me think most would feel the weather was great this year RELATIVE to 2012.

It was hot and windy. With the windiest section over the final 60 kms where the legs are really tested.

Congrats to every soul that finished, with or without a team.

Bike is fine...his quick release arm got caught in my front wheel, took half of my spokes out of the rim.

I promise u if I had to fall 50m before the line I would have not got up...was in my moer!

Think we were all so chuffed with our result that they thought to take me out was a nice cherry on the cake to get publicity.

What a fantastic event! Rode in mixed team, finished in 6:28 but more importantly we had a blast.

Saw the helpmytrap Vodacom express & Andy at the race (and the restaurant on Sat night) - well done guys
