Went for a wee session on the vaal this weekend. Anyone been on the waters?

I went down a couple of weekends ago, but it would have been suicide to get into the water. How did you go this past weekend?

My mates got Gopro footage will post asap.

The oke is taking his damn time with the footage. So, I've dug my Gopro out of the cupboard of broken dreams. Maybe that PB yellow will come out to play while I'm filming.

Any of you guys built your own wooden landing nets? The bloke who fixed my stick recently is making them. Just wondered if any of you have attempted this craft? I'm quite keen to give it a crack as a winter project.

The blokes work is phenomenal. I ended up spending quite some time marveling at some gorgeous 1wt Orvis blanks that he's currently busy with.

post-50998-0-97355600-1491994128_thumb.jpg Went to the Bushmans river this pass weekend for some fly fishing for wild trout in the DrakensbergFishing was generally tough with the river flowing high with the recent rains, i only managed to catch two fish the whole weekend which is much less than my previous visits, not sure if there are just less fish in the river or if the conditions were just crap. I did manage to catch my PB brownie so was really chuffed as it made my weekend.

Awesome fish, beautiful condition and colours. Very jealous!

Edit: With our severe drought in the Western Cape, my usual streams have taken a serious knock, as has my fishing. :(  So, it is great to see other parts of the country where things are a bit better. :)
