I am sure that most of the route is on private land so it will be illegal after the race

Yip I get that. I have seen groups riding from the town centre. There are plenty of district roads

Looking at the profile I'm even more depro now... Entered for the marathon; would have been my first MTN marathon but broke my leg this weekend at the USN race in a freak accident :-(

In simple terms:

When start and finish is at the same location, what goes up (measured in m) must come down. That means that every hill has a downhill, and every downhill as a hill.

So 1500m of heavy uphill means some awesome fast downhills? First marathon race, stressing now...

yip

me & another rider got tangled about 50meters from the finish line (both sprinting to the finish); were to close to each other and we bailed. Not sure what happend with the leg, but with the fall, I felt it and knew that was not normal :-(

Just bad luck that it broke.
