Someone who is bored with theirs, please pm me. As in, I'm looking to buy on the cheap. I want to permanently mount it on the m/bike. I have a power outlet on the bike, so battery life isn't an issue

I am tempted to sell mine. Don't have the chest strap, but a cnc machined handlebar mount. Make me an offer for my Hero.

I think it's an awesome product if you're in production, have a funky blogspot or stuff like that.

Otherwise, I do think it can quickly turn into that home gym products that catch dust.

my personal opinion. Do you really need it?

spend it on CCTV cameras rather...

But what the hell... my father in law enjoys his go-pro (his vacation camera)

If you do a lot of adventure sports.. White water stuff, floating in the air stuff, flying down mountains stuff etc etc etc..... otherwise no, not really worth it

Which model?

The "Hero" with no number next to it. I am what you call an "early adopter". Works perfectly.

Is it the Hero or Hero HD?

When doing math for any of these units, also consider cost of good editing software and how/where you will edit and store your raw footage and productions,

#1 need a good powered machine

#2 need good software otherwise you get frustrated.

#3 need storage, lots of it,

#4 add about R2000 for a extra battery and 64GB micro SD card

(most other sports are short recordings, we ride for hours, which eat battery and storage space)

Otherwise as a unit, they're awesome.

I would rather ask the guy behind me to record the video…that way ill be in the video and not just a random ride that could have been anybody's… on that note can you guys get nice "stills" from the "already recorded" video? Thing is that special moment are rearly cought on photo but you can always get one from the video…. or does the quality let you down ??

You'd get usable but not ideal stills from an HD video, I'd imagine. I borrowed a friend's recently and accidentally set it to take photos at 1sec intervals instead of video and the images that came through were great quality.

There are just some moments that you can only get with a action camera like the GoPro. There are also so many new mounts available at awesome prices. Go look at the below site as an example.

This picture says it all.

Ek sal erken, daai lyk nogal lekker, maar hoelank vat dit om by daai deel van die video of die foto uit te kom?

GoPro is a great little camera. DaVinci Resolve together with a Vimeo Pro subscription make it even better.
