Morning Hubbers!

I am in the market for a TT bike, but local pricing is a little ridiculous and my budget isn't great. So I have been looking at getting a Chinese Import. Has anyone had experience with this, TT, specific?

What should I and shouldn't I get. i.e, frameset, group set, wheels, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for a supplier they have dealt with previously? I'm super weary of online. potentially disastrous deals...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See the attached file for what I have found thus far.

Thanks for the advice in advance!

Wow! Their aero frame is well priced. Quality of the carbon? How does shipping and all that work?

Thanks for the quick response :) Love the HUB community!

Sure man, their mtb frame...gaea was actually the most expensive when I bought it about 7 months ago. There is also hongfu and dengfu but I havent dealt with them so can't advise.

With carbonality I just emailed them and a lady responded....her engrish was good and I asked her to create an invoice for me based on my list...she did, paid via paypal, shipped to my door via EMS...frame arrived 11 days later. Paid duties to the courier guy....and boom I built her up.

Quality is very good, frame is strong(I abuse the bike almost every weekend) and no glitches or issues in the whole process.

Here is another site if you want to read a bit more about frames from the east and Q&A's. very usefull

At current exchange rate you are looking at +/- R22 000. Add import duty etc, probably looking at closer to R25 000 +. For that amount of buck, you can buy an awesome 2nd hand TT bike off the Hub

There are some really good deals on the hub - Felt b12 for R16k the other day.

Dollar rate is going to bite hard at the moment

For around R25k, my budget, I can get an amazing frameset from china with great components though... From what I've read, a lot of these chinese frames are equal to the top branded bikes (probably the same factories :P) - Why pay R50-60k for a bike I can get for R25k? And on top of that have it custom sprayed? One of a kind :P

Maybe I should wait till after Ironman when guys are gatvol of the pain and drop their bikes on the HUB???

I also wouldnt get that saddle if you plan to do long TT's

Yeah, not getting the saddle or cages :P They just included them in the pricing

Just a point on "probably the same factories". As a brand importer there a four factories used by the top brand manufacturers for their carbon models, all of which are located in Taiwan. There are various grades of carbon and your top brands will use high/ultra high modulas carbon. It is stronger and stiffer. The frame looks realy good, but I would investigate the warrantee. All these "agents" are good at delivery times but are they as good with warrantee claims? If you have budget constraints, I would lean towards finding a hardly used branded TT bike. They have done their engineering homework.

Have only met one person that needed a warrantee from hongfu...and he didn't have any issues. There is however no warrantee on what you are suggesting....just pointing out the facts.

New branded bikes have their place....so does the fongkong's

As an importer can you make any offers at around R25k?
