Hi Guys, I am busy with research and I would appreciate your views on Bicycle theft, how prevalent is Bicycle theft in SA? Is bike theft on the up? Etc , Many thanks

From your research methodology I deduce that this is not towards a PhD ?

Apart from forced entry into the bike shed, most Saffer thieves prefer mugging to the "smash and grab" method of acquisition from outside shops ext. But then Souf effrikans rarely commute to the shops/ work ext, and when they do they take the bike into the office or shop. (or they post a sentry with the bikes outside the coffee shop)

In Canada (Ottawa) I was a constant source of amusement when I locked my bike up outside the walmart. there they are not terribly phased by crime and the streets are almost littered with bikes during working ours, as a significant minority commute, use the cycle paths ext.

What exactly is a significant minority? Is it a small group of important people??

Hi Skylark,

We are proud of our product, and are very thankful for all the support that we have received from South Africa and cyclists abroad.

We have been “honest from the get go about it” as a matter of fact it has been more than a year since we started to develop and perfect the technology.

No, on this thread you have been thoroughly dishonest. You started this thread under the false pretext that you wanted feedback for "research" purposes. In point of fact, you started the discussion only to market your product. Not honest. Not smart. Do not assume your target market is stupid.

Hi Guys, Thank you for all your positive feedback with regards to our new product! We are very excited to have finally launched our new Bicycle Tracking System, after almost a full year in development! The complete system can be viewed at www.cycletrack.co.za
The feedback wasnt "in regard to" your new product, it was in regard to your request for info towards unspecified research.

Thst was a completely dishonest approach, and somehow you now expect people to trust your word when you try and sell something.

Saw a similar thread on a music forum a while ago.

1st time poster asked the members who their fav guitarist was. Que lively discussion on various guitarists and bands, followed by this guy revealing that he had a guitar to sell. . . .

Perhaps a more honest approach would have been " hi guys, I'm busy with Market research . . . "
