Cyclist down: Victoria Road, past Llandudno

Saw a cyclist lying next to the road. Couple of cyclists and a car that was standing there. Ambulances came past on my way to the city.

Anybody know if the person is OK? And what happened?

Was covered in a blanket lying on a woman's lap. Arms in the air, so did not look fatal.

The road works and gravel on the road just past the hotel on the Bakoven side caused problems yesterday. Was it that area?

Our group had a puncture and while standing there fixing it, several cars got a real fright as they hit the gravel on the bend (traction control got a workout).

I saw a scooter rider had an altercation with a car at the Green Point traffic circle this morning. She seemed OK'ish

Better than Northriding (Joeys) this morning where a motorcyclist and driver of a car went at each other. Guy on bike shot dead and driver of car rushed to hospital - not sure if shot or stabbed as news report said both were "armed".

Crazy.

Get well soon.

So many cyclists on that road and still you have motorists pushing bikes off the road or pulling out in front of cyclists.Going down Suikerbossie at about 52kmh the other day and a lady in a red Kadette pulls out in front of me.Decided its time of brakes upgrade

There are road works as well as some damages from the mud slides which are being repaired. They also cut the bushes and most were still lying there yesterday totally blocking the verge.

Speeding recovery to the cyclist!

Hi Dre

This unfortunate cyclist went down in front of two office colleauges of mine who witnessed the incident and stopped to assist.

Their first hand account over a post ride coffee was a fractured leg (tibia) resulting from a collision with the road barrier. They were riding behind him and from their perspective, it appears as though he was surprised by a gust of wind which put him into the barrier post. (Capies who regularly ride Victoria Road will know that gusty right hand sweep well.)

Other than the broken leg and properly wrecked bike, the injured rider was taken care of by the paramedics and seemed to be okay.

Interestingly enough, the colleauge who stopped to assist happened to be back on his bike for the first ride after recovering from a broken tibia sustained in December, so knew how to assist. What are the chances.

Wishing the unlucky cyclist a speedy recovery.

Someone should take the contractor to task for that. It was like that when I rode past on Sunday. Imho it should be removed same day.

Ouch. Same thing happened to me a few years ago.

just after the wire barrier the road takes a right and takes the first big gust coming through apostles.

I got pushed into and over the armco barrier, still clipped in. Ended up about 4m down the hill towards the sea.

My wife who was behind me said it was the funniest thing she'd ever seen..

I was lucky, just some cuts and bruises.

Speedy get well to the cyclist.

reminds me of the medallion last year. i started further back in the pack to ride with a friend. we were going up new hells. passing all the slower riders. coming up to this 2 guys with same shirts, the one infront of the other. we just see the front rider go closer to the steel barrier. clips the barrier and falls over the barrier. it was K@K funny to see. his friend didnt know what to do. luckly the guy got up dusted himself and climbed back over the barrier. it was so funny.

i guess just his ego got hurt lol
