Gandalf is right and I agree with you 100 %

It is now their race  and not the guys doing the second lap .

While i sort of agree with you, i am not the fastest rider, and started with the Cows(flame suit on), i rode for my cause(in a full wooly black suit) and found it frustrating when slower riders wandered all over the road when i was catching them(single lap, obvious low seeding to start with the charity bond)

Not sure why people do not follow the keep left pass right(as best they can), plenty of people passed me from the lower groups and other charity bonds, and you just have to do your best to keep out the way and leave some space for faster riders to pass.

I believe a major problem yesterday was that a lot of people got stuck on the N14, a bit of bad planning from the organisers, and the riders involved, with many faster riders missing their start and pushing through on the narrower sections in town and on Jan Smuts

Steel frame and lekker wheels and you don't even know they are there

Sounds like I should come visit you at the shop and have a chat.

Must say, I really felt for a guys.

With about 5km to go, I heard the distinct and humiliating humming of knobblies behind me.

And then coming up that *** Steyn City climb a dude on his dual sus came past me, he had caught us from C group, so he must have been heading for a 2h35!!

Then as he crested the top of that climb at the circle BANG!! his tyre blew right next to me, completely off the rim and a bit of poo came out of me! There was no way he was going to repair it.

That is *** luck!

If you are a Hubber, massive respect man!

I agree with you here as well, the rules of the road on a bicycle are the same as the rules of the road in a car.

I thought about this plenty yesterday .

I would see inconsiderate riders sitting four or five side to side having a chat and barely moving and hogging the entire faster lane by doing so.

Then you pass guys who are there and you wonder why , that is when I realised that in their mind they are fast and in reality they are, as they are passing people.

The guys walking and pushing, quite simple, do so on the left.

I was right Next to Him when the Tyre Blew, also sh#t myself, he had ridden with us all the way in the front of C... What a Beast, he descended like a legend and how he hung on on those last climbs I don't know.

I went 2h42 so he would have been about there, Respect on Knobblies, and pity about the blow out.

First over the line from the racing bunch takes gold, so it becomes more about tactics than pure speed.

From the racing booklet:

"Any women found starting in open groups A, B or C will also be automatically disqualified as these groups are for the racing men exclusively"

I wish I was aware of this rule. I would have dropped back to D as the view improves considerably from that group onwards...

I did my first 94.7 yesterday (Yippee!)

It was damn hard- I did it in my goal time of around 5 hours.

Compared to the Argus and Amashova how does yesterday's course compare?

Rode an All-City nature boy running 700 x 41c. I thought the road was a race track!!
