Started in D with my sister. Initially was going to go for a hard ride but decided to stick with my sister.  She had a tough time especially over the first 30 km or so.  She battled with the climbs but I could give some lead out on the downhills and the few more level pieces of road (not that there were too many of that).  On Witkoppen I said cheers to the sister and hooked in with some F guys passing us.  The Steyn city climb killed my legs and finished with a 3.04.  Would have been able to do a sub 3 fairly easily but I enjoyed the ride.

I like the new route.  Was there nice and early and did not have traffic problems.

We decided agains the second lap but that was a blessing in hindsight.   When I got home I had a dog that needed to be rushed to the vet.

Did you not see they guy with the USN kit wave hi ?

I really suck at group riding

The next thing  I suck at is descending.

but we had a bunch of kids so she's been off the bike.

So now we know what you have been doing, instead of practicing your group riding and descending.....

Being a purely Mtb rider I didn't ride the race yesterday, but decided to ride down with my daughter to lend some support to the guys slogging up Cedar. I was truly blown away by the vibe of the race and all the guys and gals that took a second out of their slog to say hi to my daughter and thanking her for the support and encouraging her to do the race next year...So to all of you well done and thanks for making a 9 year olds day, she loved every second of it...big ups!!!

I must commend all the supporters along the route. so if you know anyone who came out and supported us pass on our gratitude please. I for one really appreciated it.

Hey its a bicycle race. Time to let those "purely MTB" legs of yours do the talking and enter and ride it.

Glad your daughter enjoyed. I saw lots of Dad's with kids on the back of tandems, some pretty young. It was pretty amazing.

The other thing i decided is to get another tandem. Man those things are fun. I was so envious of all of them.

I must agree.

I had a truly amazing experience. We stopped in Bordeaux on Jan Smuts just outside the turning in to Blairgowrie. Just pulled over for the wife to stretch her neck and eat a Gu as she cant do it whilst riding.

Next thing this woman is offering us bananas, Bar Ones and Water. It was like she had her own little drinks table and seconding station in her handbag for passing cyclists. That she had paid for.

Just some random woman sitting on the side of the road that had thought enough to go and buy some extras for the cyclists.

Amazing.

Thanks Lady - you were truly in the spirit of the event....

For the first time I saw two lots of cheats during the race...

The first was just before the M2 onramp, the guy in front of me hit the brakes and took a sharp right into town and then in the town bit a group of 3 or 4 guys on road bikes jumped the pavement and started heading towards Wits instead of going back on the M2?!?!

Why would you enter the race just to take short cuts and cheat??

They need to start doing what the CT Cycle Tour do with racetec mats on route.

They also need to police the start pens more accurately. Towards the end there was no checking. So in S group you had W,X, and others with AA numbers etc.

So did anyone here from C batch score some extra mins on the racetec site?

Had such a awesome race, new to road thing so was k@king in the bunch but eventually settled in nicely.

Started in C, pace was a little slow in the beginning but as we hit the city the racing started, group left me at Ceder and pulled in at 2:48 but site says 2:45....

Happy days!

I saw people holding onto the sweep vehicles, not worth making a fuss, they know deep down that they did not complete the ride properly...Karma will be visiting in 5-7 working days to repay them

This will get pick up automatically by racetec, and they will be disqualified.

(They are either ignoramuses for not knowing this, or they don't care about getting an official result.)

Check if your group says D. Apparently most of the C group got recorded as D, and so you get the start time for D and hence the faster time.

OK, so I know i'm probably going to get flamed for some of this, but here's my opinion.

I would like that it should not be possible to do a second lap in this race....

Reason being (a lot) of these "cyclists" are pushing through the starting chutes to get into another start group. My bike was clipped by a tandem, and if the lady passenger had not said sorry for "her man" , he probably would have started with a lekker PK, glued to the back of his helmet.

They then charge at high speed through people who don't have a clue about riding in bunches or pelotons. This is dangerous to your self and the non expert cyclists who are doing it for the first time.

The 94.7 is a race for everybody.

They shout at you to get out of the way, because they are "coming through".

The whole point about the different groups, is you ride with people with the same ability as you.

When you mix these abilities, then it gets dangerous.

And now the Cows.... Well I guess opinions differ according to your own circumstances.

I was pushing (assisting) a lady friend on her first 94.7 up one of those dreaded hills near the end.

I was in the middle of the road passing a group of walking cyclists, with a lot of space still on our right hand side .... and I hear "coming through" ... well I ignored this call, as I am also "coming through" and tons of space on our right ... and again "coming through mr "another charity cycling top shirt name" , so I turn around and see what I can describe as an old ice-cream delivery bike with a herd of cows around it.

Well now I understood the situation and got out of the way immediately - no questions and had a little cordial chat to one of them.

This is what the rear end of the 94,7 is all about. Its fun, its about camaraderie and everyone has their own personal goals.

Thumbs up to you guys - you rock .....
