  1. The warranty doesn't cover towing a 47kg trailer affixed to the seatpost, even for "charity"

  2. Are you slow?

  3. This is the hub, not Stalingrad

  4. Education, now you know your frame warranty is useless

1. Maybe I should scam them. Oh yeah, I don't subscribe to that.

2. Jip, currently only a 22kph average... Oh... Reading. Nah, I hate reading (bring on the roasts, heard them all).

3. U sure? The only love here is for cycling. Everything else is either neutral or hated. And one especially stand to be corrected several times.

4. Indeed, the warranty does not cover stupidity, no matter what you did it for. I still in between two minds... 27.5 or 29er replacement.

OK Willie: What on earth could be bothering you? Someone actually buying a roadbike to to roadracing? Somebody buying at a price that is still more expensive than in Australia (thus not cheap)? Somebody trusting his LBS? Ek dink jy kyk te veel Barry Roux.

Nah, let me pay this price for stupidity. Also had 6 years of flawless service from it. I should just get it over and done with...

And the possibility of repair?

I have actually not followed a single day of the Oscar trial... Hmmm... Maybe that is the next thread to catch up.

My problem here is that people want all the nice stuff, but they cannot afford it. That includes me.

Hence they go to someone for a "solution". The "solution" then works fine for some time, until the smallest issue is brought up, and the pride steps in, and no one wants to own up. But the facts are:

1. You did not have R160K for a new DOGMA

2. You paid +- 2 thirds of a Dogma's price at that spec for a "dogma"

3. Now you are upset about the "dogma" - but as the potential client, you initiated it.

I seriously do not get that. How can you expect to pay so much less for the bike?

Are you ok then with stolen goods? Cause there is not a lot of other alternatives. Either it is fake or stolen at 2 thirds of the DOGMA's price.

Most definitely. Repair + Respray on the cards. And also a chance to hang on to something that is of sentimental significance to me. But I think eventually fatigue will set in.

However, the crack has not progressed at all in the last 4 months (after I have noticed it).

Read the WHOLE post and here is a few things I worry about...

  • What happens now to the hundreds of people that bought fake something from CS (bars, wheels, frames) with the 5 year warranties they gave?
  • Are all those cyclist hung out to dry with no recourse for they're purchases been done in faith that they would be covered if something went wrong?
  • Bought a few odds and sods from them and now very worried about the authenticity of products (have not had Failure yet...touch wood)

Do we just rack this up to the cost of education?

This is a perfect example of the kind of self righteous uninformed rubbish thehub is well known for, after 125 pages or so of redemption RooiWille takes it upon himself to undo all the good that has come before him. And he's trying damn hard, read the the whole thread you chop before you come taking a dump on the doorstep. Ey some people.

Catch a wake-up Willdo,

The OP had a longstanding relationship with Cycle Science

The OP had no reason to distrust them, based on previous purchases

The OP purchased a second Pina frame after he was informed the first was a counterfeit (ergo he paid 170k for a 160k bike).

Okay - With the OP trial back on, we need to clear this up.

OP is AA, and AA is a good guy...

OP is a different guy, and not such a good guy...

Now I don't know if OP has any relations with CS, cause they both seem to think the same, stoopidly, but I know that AA does not... apart from some fleecing that he seems to have had done on him...

Please don't get your OP's mixed up, it's not lekker for AA.

CS on the other hand, still stands for Caak Stoopid.

Klaar.

I'm not even sure if I need to reply, being a chop after all.

I was merely questioning the conditions of the sale, and if it was indeed shared with ALL BUYERS that they are not getting the real deal, and if they accepted it. Irrespective of perceived relationships.

Let me ask this, who willingly here bought any fake product and are willing to admit to anybody that they bought a fake?

Isn't there two sides to a story?

1. Relationship - That's subjective... I don't know if there is such a thing nowadays. Look at this post.

2. Definitely something to take note of, you cannot trust people blindly.

3. Indeed true, but was it out of pride, necessity or anger? Maybe impulsive?

To change my angle, how do one stop counterfeiting? Perhaps not a solution that we can find here, but one should sure as hell explore all avenues and investigate every possible detail before you buy these kinds of goods.
