I have a 2015 entry. Looking for a partner preferably in Northern Suburbs of the Western Cape. I'm 40+ never done the EPIC before but have done W2W, Houw Hoek, Greyton Tours. Costs have to be shared of course. Please PM me if you'd like to discuss. Cheers

Quote from Kevin Vermaak:

“in May 2014 we’ll announce some radical changes to the race format. Like the riders who left Knysna for the last time in 2008, riders participating in this year’s race will be the last to experience the “old” Epic, as the race is entering its next era from 2015 onwards.”

Any wild guesses?

i've been told by someone who worked on the Epic (closely with Kevin) that the format change has been delayed until 2016.

I once met someone who knows someone that went to school with Kevs Grandad and he said that there could possibly be a change in the epic ore perhaps not?

Hi. I finished the 2014 edition in the mixed cat. Lost hour and half due to mech problems. Our team name was Mico if you want to check out the results. I stay up in Gauteng though. What is your marathon times typically? My email jjengelbrecht80@gmail.com. Jaco

2014 was my first Epic and I went with the premium upgrade option. A huge amount of cash to drop on top of the entry fee, but money very well spent. I found the hosts very accommodating. They went out of their way to fetch & carry us. Where required we caught lifts with other busses/hosts so never ended up sitting around waiting. Sleeping in a warm, dry bed and having your own toilet and shower is priceless a few days into the event. You can still spend any amount of time you want in the race villages, but those who have done the Epic will know, getting to sleep early and sleeping well is vital for recovery. All round a fantastic event!

Agreed 100%, did the same. The drive to the B&Bs was not long at all, the most we got was 15 to 20 mins. The hosts were incredibly helpful, let alone one other big advantage of not having to worry about making everything fit in your rider bag every couple of days...

Hi everyone,

I secured an early bird entry into the 2015 race. Unfortunately my team mate has had to pull out. Looking for either a male or female. I am a 26yr old Australian...living in London. I have previously specialised in 24hr solo endurance races.

Split costs as per normal.

Let me know if you are interested.

My training started with the Greyton last year. Was pretty great, as the Epic went through the area and on some of the tracks used by the tour. We also happened to stay on guest farm outside of Greyton when we did the tour, which was surrounded by kick arse mountains and some ufo looking structure. As luck would have it, we were sent up these same mountains on the Friday (Stage 5 I think) I must say it was much easier driving up them than riding.
