Following on from the idea of homemade Gels . . .

 

Post your fav homemade & money saving "Gel / Smoothie / Snack in the pocket / Recovery snack or drink" ideas here . . . .

 

 

Bananas are probable still the easiest and cheapest, and they come in their own bio-degradable wrapper.

Peanut butter, Strawberry jam, butter and fresh white bread sarmies.... packed in wax paper.... pack the pbj&b on thick... don't be shy... :)

 

You're a man after my own stomach! Although I use apricot jam instead of strawberry more often than the other way round!

I make date balls. Recipe still a work in progress. Gotta get them a little firmer, but they are great for a chocolate substitute and packed with energy

Damn - now I'm hungry!

 

Me too - and after dinner and snacks...... already clubbed the cookie jar, all the peanuts in the cupboard, and all the blltong in the fridge... just tonight... so far...

I will put what ive got so far up tomorrow. Nicked it from a friend who does iron man. Soon as im finished the batch in the fridge I will adjust it a bit

Allen Lim rice cakes - google and you'll find them. I make his sweet one with roasted pecans, dried figs and honey.

 

Of late I have been making 1/2 batches and dividing the end result into 3 - then throwing it in the blender and adding water to make it softer. Seal it in a bag and you have your own 'gel' sachet. Really good stuff!
